I'm not exactly sure what this is all about, I guess some of it has to do with Bronny. I'm getting a constant algorithm of videos of it on YouTube. I have clicked on the videos just to read the comments section. Is this something recent or has it been building up the last 10-20 years?

Stephen A. is as big of an attention 'ho as there is. Fighting LeBron is sure fire. Not interested.

SAS basically called LeBron a bad parent for forcing Bronny into the league. Which... look, I think it's ridiculous (but also not a big deal) that LeBron got Bronny into the league, but calling the dude a bad parent for it is trash stuff from SAS. Just criticize Bronny as a player and the Lakers as an org.

So now LeBron's on both a regular media and social media blitz making fun of SAS.

It's real "the NBA is a soap opera for men" stuff.

FWIW, it's easy to follow it all just from /r/NBA headlines. I don't click on SAS videos or articles (or even aggregation of his stuff) on principle.

My question is why are the old heads of the 80s and 90s "golden age" allowed to criticize today's game but when LeBron says Giannis would drop 250 if he played in the 80s and 90s, it's considered disrespectful.

Maybe the NBA was better back then but let's not pretend it was more popular. Magnitudes more people watch and pay attention to the modern NBA compared to the old days.

The NBA now is the best it's ever been, by a mile. Better, more skillful athletes running much more complex stuff on both sides of the ball every time up the court.

Uh….no. Viewership relative to population was a lot higher 30 years ago for various reasons.

This is LOL funny. The NBA is unwatchable now. Bunch of ISOs and launching 3 pointers. Are the players more athletic? Sure

Would I rather watch a replay of Bird v Dominique playoff game in 86 or 87, whenever it was? 1000%

Bird, Magic, Michael, Nique, Dr J, Gervin.....FAR more entertaining and SKILLED at basketball than today's generation. Could they run and dunk like the kids today? No. But the game was way better played and watchable back then. And it ain't even CLOSE.

You couldn't pay me to watch an NBA game today

Why? Why would anyone watch the NBA?

Are you kidding me? The NBA was way more popular back in the 80s and 90s the Lakers Celtics rivalry of the 80s had some of the highest rated tv games in NBA history. NBA is struggling to stay afloat right now. I think their ratings were behind baseball last year. NBA is brutal now so many things hurting the game All-Star game is comical , load management, loose defense to promote more scoring , minimal star power etc… We can go on and on and on. I’ll definitely lock in a bit for the NBA playoffs butwith NFL season and college basketball season going on in the winter I won’t even look at an NBA regular season game until march madness is over- however I did follow the Lakers after the Luka trade and watches a few games when they were on that little winning streak. But that was only for a filler during the dead time between Super Bowl and march madness lol

What? My ball, my shot. Look at me, I'm 6'10 and can dunk. Raise the rims to 12 feet and let's start over with passing layups and defense. Enforce the travel rule and the no palming rule. Oh and don't let ball handers bang away at defenders. You wanna allow some contact, allow any contact.

Why should anyone care? IMO both qualify as DumbAzzes. Albeit very rich ones.

I'm sorry but that is just not true. Viewership for the NBA today pales in comparison to what it was in 80's and 90's. When Magic, Bird and Jordan was around viewership was at all time high.

Brother half those guys couldn’t go left. Give me a break.

I've largely stopped watching this season unless UConn alums are playing or Jokic is playing. The product is awful right now, watching teams combine for 75 misses from three is sad as a lifelong NBA fanatic.

Shooting 70 threes isnt very complex for me, basketball will suck after the Dance is over and I’m a Celtics fan.

Both guys are unlikeable but LeBron walking up to him after that game is typical.

That’s fine to be of that opinion, I don’t love the 3s either, but again, @Matrim55 is completely right.

Waaaaaay better athletes and overall talent today but half of today’s NBA players wouldn’t survive one game vs the Bad Boys.

In time things evolve, trucks in 2025 are far more advanced than trucks in the 1970s.
He said those guys were more skilled than today’s generation. That’s categorically false.

I think both things can be true. I wonder if the overall athleticism and skill of the modern player has overtaken the the rules and dimensions of the game, making it less interesting. A bit like how NASCAR has become so boring. The cars can outperform the track now so they needed to add gimmicks in an attempt to create interest, not like back when Allison and Yarborough had it out.

The Bad Boys would put up 58 points in this league and lose half their players to Flagrant 2s.

Nah, it's an inferior product now. It's a three point contest and there's a skills and stars problem with US players currently.

Nah, skill-wise these guys would run laps around guys in the 80s/90s. Drexler literally couldn’t dribble with his left, Jordan early in his career could barely go left. There is a massive gulf in skill lol.

Jordan would easily average 45 today. You sound like that clown Arenas.

Tell me where I lied.

45 a game? you have nostalgia glasses. We’ve disagreed on this before though, no need to rehash.

Jordan with today's training, coaching and advancements in medicine and recovery would be up to speed with today's best in no time.
