Great, great song! Mathis' was amazing!

Strange performer. I saw him at UConn. He was well into his career. No stage presence to go with that great voice. I’d heard that about him. Some obvious nervous habits.

He's still the lost little lonely boy, even at his advanced age.

The translation leaves much to be desired but gets the point across. If your taste runs to the sappier, try Ne Me Quittes Pas.

This song was in the top 40 back in the day, ans relatively popular for several months. Unfortunately for Ms. Bass, it was her only hit. She was what you could call a "one hit wonder". There were many one hit wonders such as Billy Paul (Me and Mrs Jones), Doris Troy – "Just One Look" (1963), Deon Jackson – "Love Makes the World Go Round" (1966), Looking Glass – "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" (1972), Alicia Bridges – "I Love the Nightlife" (1978), etc.
She had only one big hit, but what a great name! MISS FONTELLA BASS just sounds so cool!

Bronx23- - - -A friend turned me on to Eva Cassidy's work several years ago and I also am a huge fan!
I have 12 Eva CD's, they are: Nightbird 2015
The Other Side w/Chuck Brown 1992
Songbird 1992
Eva By Heart 1997
Live At Blues Alley 1996
Somewhere 2008
Simply Eva 2011
Time After Time 2000
No Boundaries 2000
Method Actor 2002
Imagine 2002
American Tune 2003
After her passing in 1996 her parents & friends set up a website evacassidy.org and are trying to keep her legacy alive with additional CD's from studio sessions that never got put out in public! Also go to google search or yahoo search for Eva Cassidy on ABC NIGHTLINE which has a story on her life, which is excellent!
There was also a book of her story put out by Gotham Books written by Rob Burley, Jonathan Maitland, & Elana Rhodes Byrd which is also excellent!
If any BYers haven't listened to Eva Cassidy check her out her sound is awesome!
I just finished reading the book you recommended about Eva. I loved it!
It gave me some great insights into her life and how she viewed her music.
Thanks so much !
