Thanks for the two mentions of "Dazed and Confused." They reminded me that either "Slacker" or "Waking Life" would be my Richard Linklater entry. Also, thanks for the reminder to put mine into the Google form. I might actually do that before the deadline.

I also love movies but you won't find many that were mentioned that I truly believe are GOAT or top 10 material. Some "oddball" choices:

Superbad
Toy Story
Monty Python & the holy Grail
Iron Man (for reasons beyond the movie itself)

These are interesting choices especially back to back.
 
Would love to see this broken down by genre in the offseason. More fun to see Airplane vs. Blazing Saddles than either one of them vs. The Godfather.

Hard to vote against the big dramas even when the comedy or action flick its up against might have been perfect for what it was trying to do.

For me the two Linklalater choices would be "Before Midnight" and "Boyhood" with "Waking Life" a close third.
I also like "Thin Blue Line."

Also, are we choosing what we think are the greatest movies or our favorite movies? For instance, I would rather watch Blazing Saddles than Citizen Kane but the latter is clearly the superior film.
 
Submitted my list. Saving Private Ryan tops my list followed by Unforgiven. A couple that I forgot about and got left off or not considered - Fargo, Memento, American Beauty, Patton, The Right Stuff, The Killing Fields, and Dr. Strangelove. Others have mentioned a lot of great movies. I went heavy on comedies. That genre doesn't get a lot of recognition on "Best" and "Greatest" lists, but they end up being the movies that I will rewatch most often. Has to mean something. Right?

I debated this very thing about Talladega Nights, which I am always happy to watch no matter when I catch it. But then I thought better of putting it on the Greatest Movie of All-Time Tournament thread.

Boyhood great in concept, poor in execution. I'm probably in the minority but I found it boring and the characters unlikable.

A Thin Blue Line was probably groundbreaking for the time but after seeing so many amazing true crime docs in recent years Thin Blue Line didn't hold up great for me when I watched it recently.

I didn't spend a lot of time of the list. My approach was to list 16 movies that I'd think about watching if they on and then which would I choose if multiple ones were on. That list would vary day to day but I thought it was a good proxy for which films are my favorites.
