I'm a Giants fan, currently living about 2 hours outside of DC. RG III is both a tremendously gifted athlete, and a class act. His parents are both ex military. He received his degree from Baylor in 3 years, so he's not just a neanderthal football player. I've grown so tired of the media's preoccupation with race. I rarely watch news or even sports opinion shows anymore because of this very fact. Why can't people (the media) accept the fact that RG III is just a plain old, good guy?

not only ignorant comments, but also insulting to blacks everywhere. so because the guy is smart, educated, intelligent, well spoken, and a good guy, he's "not really black". I guess you have to be stupid, ignorant, and a hoodlum to be considered black by that commentators logic? What a jerk...

I always thought of RG111 as a class guy. I was thrilled when he won the Heisman Trophy. He has done nothing in his personal life to change my opinion of him. I am so sick of all this racism crap. Don't agree with someone put the racist label on them.

There are still many whites and blacks who are unfortunately offended by inter-racial dating and other ways in which people don't fit into their preconceptions.

And here is Parker's response to the criticism he's received . . .

From NBC Sports:
"After making those comments on Thursday morning, Parker was inundated with criticism on Twitter, and in his responses on Thursday afternoon, he generally acted as though he was the one who was owed an apology for anyone daring to question what he’d said. Parker called his critics, among other things, “uneducated” and “silly.”"

If those kind of comments were made by a white commentator he would already be gone.

As soon as I saw Rob Parker's name attached to it, I wasn't surprised. As a Michigan/Detroit sports fan, I've seen more than enough of his crap. :-/ (BTW, I had no idea he was working for ESPN as well. I just know him from all the negative stuff he says about Michigan/Detroit teams/players/fans. )

RGIII was an incredible ambassador for Baylor and has transferred that to the Redskins. I wanted BG to land in DC so that she and RGIII could continue their friendship in the same city.

I suppose you're right, Ice, but If I did/said something like he did, I would be unceremoniously escorted out of the building and off of the property.

In the course of my last job, I had the privilege of meeting Robert and his girlfriend, along with Sonja Hogg. They had just gotten back from watching Baylor win the National Championship, and there was a picture of RGIII in the crowd among the students in a newspaper from Denver. He had the newspaper and showed me, and was genuinely excited to be in the paper as a fan of the women's team. He thought that was so cool. He went on and on about how great Brittney did, and his girlfriend couldn't have been nicer. They were seriously some of the best people, and I met a lot of "celebrities" in that job. He was so great.

The best way to deal with race baiters is to remove their soapbox...
Indeed and suspension is likely the first step in meeting any compliance issues related to termination of employment.

Limbaugh said something gallacticlly stupid about Mcnab and got fired- rightfully so. This guy need to be fired for something that is even stupidier than what Limbaugh said.

It were only that. Read about the constant attempt by black children in this country to put down blacks who excel in academics, even in grammar school. It's something they should be criticized for, trying to drag others down to their level, but where's the outcry? This episode is the same thing, just older targets.

Good grief!

I've been in the DC area for 25 years and am not particularly a Redskins fan, but I admire guys like Darrell Green and RG III. We need more people like them.

Amen, brother...I'd love to hear our President speak out on this issue...

True, I mention it simply because it was specifically one of the issues Parker raised.
