Remember Howard Cosell?

Remember Jimmy the Greek ???

Amazingly enough (not really) you can't see any mention of this whole Parker thing on the ESPN NFL home page. Imagine that !

It were only that. Read about the constant attempt by black children in this country to put down blacks who excel in academics, even in grammar school. It's something they should be criticized for, trying to drag others down to their level, but where's the outcry? This episode is the same thing, just older targets.

Very true. I think there is no response due to cowardice. It's very easy to be racially PC now days. I remember a time when standing up for the ethics of equality meant putting your self at risk, which however now require little sacrifice since it's presently PC. People have not changed much. The majority still will not stand against popular opinion or peer pressure. Being ethical often requires the courage to not be afraid of being disliked, vilified or a fear of physical harm. True equality requires everyone to be held to the same standards and for our integrity to be unwavering in support of that aim.

Also we should remember a pattern that abuse takes. Those that have been the victims of abuse often become abusers themselves.

I heard that described as "crabs in a bucket" by an elderly black lady mourning the death of her grandson who was killed because he refused to join the neighborhood gang. She said that whenever a black kid in the neighborhood (a Baltimore ghetto) tried to get out the crabs in the bucket would pull them back down.

Limbaugh said something gallacticlly stupid about Mcnab and got fired- rightfully so. This guy need to be fired for something that is even stupidier than what Limbaugh said.
No he said McNabb was overrated because the press wanted a successful black quarterback. He said he thought that Philly's success wasn't due to McNabb but their defense.

Article at the time from Slate

Rush does stick his foot in his mouth too often while trying to make a point but the McNabb comment wasn't one of those times.

Yup, that is an analogy used for anyone attempting to overcome their social class and rise above it. It originated with female Philipino author Nino Rosca.

Nan, this situation is different. Cosell said something while doing play by play in a game He was one of the few in the media that back up Ali during his suspendtion from bxing and they were lifelong friends. The RGIII situation was during a panel talk show and was meant to hurt RGIII by implying he was an Uncle Tom.
