I'm sure there are plenty of reasons to dislike Tiger if you are so inclined, but when he's not in eye shot, and the marshalls tell him it's ok to take his club out, it's certainly not Tiger's fault. I'd have given his whine more credence if he'd complained about the officials or marshalls, instead of Tiger...

Or the fact that the crowd cheered for some reason when Tiger took out his club? Not like he planned or would have expected that. Must have been a boring day?

duckk Sergio.......he's in the same boat as Alex O for me.......that was beautiful on 17 and as UCDaveD pointed out, that's what a lot of us were thinking as he hit the 3rd shot from the tee - great stuff.......top it off with a duck snotter off the 18th - sweet!!! Couldn't have happened to a nice, whiner little guy!!;)

The 17th on my home course is an island green
I've played it over 400 times. Probably 80-90% hit.
Real easy par if you hit I've had many birdies and one in around down and out.
ended 1 inch directly behind the hole.
I still have nightmares.
Distance is everything because of club really an easy shot from 110-130 yards PW-8 iron
the back tees are 170 almost an impossible shot for my game with a 5 iron.
Thank God at my age I can play forward(we have 5 tee choices)

If its windy it doubles the difficulty.

Well...I'm not going to say that Sergio deserved what happened, but his actions over the past 2 days certainly didn't earn him much sympathy when he put 2 straight shots into the water. First he criticizes Tiger when Tiger couldn't see him AND replays confirmed that the noise started well before Sergio even started his swing. Sergio could have backed away and regrouped and Tigers shouldn't be faulted for merely pulling his club out when he is all the way across the fairway and out of sight from Sergio.

How is Tiger supposed to know that simply pulling a club out is going to cause a reaction? So stupid. Anyway, sorry Sergio. Today was a microcosm of your career and Tiger's.

I know Tiger is yet to claim another major but I do love that he is so clearly the best golfer int he world again that you basically cannot even fathom a time where experts were claiming that he may never win again

I only played TPC Sawgrass once. From the blues. I got a double, first tee shot wet. The pro's tee on 17 is only 9 yards behind the blues.

I should add I'm not very good.

I didn't see any golf this weekend but know that Sergio is softer than Spanish moss.

What distance was it playing today?

I think its usually about 125- 130 which is a finesse shot for a pro.
Actually an easier distance for a low handicapper hitting a full PW or 9 iron.
Doesn't it slope back to front so even those of us with little backspin get a helping hand.
PS SERGIO is a cry baby but Tiger is no MR nice Guy.
When the reporter bated him all he had to do was say the Marshall told me to hit.
there was no intent. End of Story
The added personal commentary was unneeded and unprofessional.

- why should Tiger grin and bear it when the Spanish knuckle called him out?

That dude has so many people with swords out after him - about time he shiv'd one of them.

Sergio whined and blamed something or someone for his own failing for about the 27,000th time. Tiger called him out on it and then he went and won the tournament.

You'd think among the 14 clubs your caddie has in the bag, a pro would pick a wedge that wasn't "a finesse shot". Hell, the manufacturers will make a club specifically for this hole if asked. I would think for most PGA pros, a full 60 degree would do the trick. Or in Sergio's case, maybe a 58 degree gap.

Besides, they're supposed to be professionals. Sergio is still getting$257,000 for blowing it. He plays the same hole every single year. Shouldn't be any surprises. He simply gagged.

"...the added personal commentary"? You're kidding me right? He reacted to Sergio taking it further than he needed to by accusing Tiger of doing it on purpose and saying that's Tiger...........Tiger's reaction was short and sweet....."not surprised he's complaining about something"..........as a Golf Channel guy said this stuff is good for the game, they should have wrestled instead of a handshake after finishing yesterday morning screw the being nice to each other stuff!!

I played a course outside Dallas called Tour 18 and every hole was a copy of famous hole. The 9th hole was a copy of 17 at Sawgrass (last 4 holes were Augusta). Put a 9 iron on the front of the green with the pin on the back and proceded to putt it into the water.
Sergio is a slow playing whiny complainer. Loved it at Bethpage when the fans started yelling for him to hit. The only player I disliked more was Montgomery.

I'm sorry, but this made me laugh. I have zero doubt that a course like this exists in Dallas.

I think Tiger can be sort of a whiner at times, but Sergio makes him look like an NFL o-lineman in terms of toughness. I had a real good laugh when Tiger learned of Sergio's comments and after explaining what happened said "..but, not surprised he's complaining about something.."

Let's face it. All golfers are whiny at times. Some are just broken records (sergio).

We have a running trail that leads through part of a golf course - I always notice that the weather has to be darned near perfect for golfers to come out to play.

If it's cold or windy or rainy or hot or anything but pitch perfect weather, the course is empty.

Golfers are daisies.
