You have no grounds to say what did or did not happen, there is a 3 page section of the plaintiffs report that has been redacted as instructed by her counsel. it says right in the column that the redacted portion covers the previous incident that was the source of Mannings ire towards the ATC.


Also let me just say before I get attacked by the ever faithful manning hating pats fans, I 100% believe that the incident occurred, the evidence is damning to say the least but that is not the point. the point is that we as a society have all of a sudden become this over reaction, first to write a sensational piece, gotta be the first to say something controversial before I check the facts or write something without a painfully obvious bias. where did journalistic integrity go?....

Duke Lacrosse, except this was over 20 years ago. My life doesn't require me to have an opinion on this, except to say that in today's world of money, fame worship, and using the law as a weapon, I'm OK with whatever the original proceedings determined. Since that was a settlement, I gather both sides were satisfied with the outcome. Whether that is avoiding a sensationalized trial for one and the other getting a few buck and perhaps some sense of self respect or one avoiding a potential fraud charge and the other avoiding a conviction.

Why this is important is that is shows exactly how dumb it is for Title IX to hold universities responsible for law enforcement. The gist of the suit is that the school "condoned" this behavior his should only be a title IX issue if the school was actively interfering with a criminal complaint or was rounding up coeds for human trafficking.

This suit smells like a cash grab. Every school should adopt an official policy of dispassionately supporting law enforcement investigations of complaints and referring any complaints it receives to local law enforcement. That and the current education programs should clear them of any liability.

what I said is, you have no idea what events lead up to the Trojan helmet incident. Do not paint her as a totally innocent party without knowing all of the facts of the case. I have personal relationships with many many female ATCs and understand the BS that many athletes put them through better than most. Manning deserves to be judged for his behavior and she deserves an apology for what he did but I for one will not jump to conclusions just because I am told to do so by some hack from the daily news.

Again I never said it did, all I said is that you cannot say for certain that there was no previous history. It is 100% an unacceptable response regardless of the previous incident but again dont say that you know this was unprovoked.

First, Whitlock doesn't know what he's talking about. It was just a hit piece on the author. I don't know why the link Whitlock gives from the Daily News wasn't good enough for him (the article shows that this guy was beaten badly in high school and had spinal surgery, and friends who witnessed it said it was racial; and the article also has the writer saying all four of his siblings have different fathers, and that his sperm donor was out of the picture when he was born).

Second, I was only referring to the documents from the court testimony, and specifically Peyton's friends, including the fullback, stuff that was never released in those old USA Today articles.

So I think the writer is totally irrelevant here. The only thing that really makes me question the writer is the fact that he writes for the Daily News.

An employee is not committing a physical act against Peyton. Let's face it.

She did nothing of the sort. She would have been fired. And why would she physically attack a big football player?

You're really reaching here.

I never said she struck him, laid a hand on him or anything in that manner I simply was stating cause and effect in simple example. also you again have no idea what that previous incident was, it could have been any number of conflicts that caused an ongoing issue between the two parties that eventually escalated to manning allegedly Trojan helmeting the woman. which again as I have stated many times already was unacceptable.

you assume a lot, you are obviously more than welcome to your own opinion as am I. we have no way of knowing why it is she was let go from her job at FS, I have a hard time believing that a world renowned medical professional was removed from her position based solely on the fact that she had nuts dragged across her face at the previous institution that she worked at. but as you said if she was released from her position based solely on that then yes, that is indeed disgusting.

I doubt UT would if this happened today either. Until the Duke case, everyone ran in fear of these complaints. Today, while still heavily biased to the complaintant, at least there is some investigation.

The Rolling Stone article really flipped my opinion on these cases. The public can have no idea on what really happens between two people. The possibilities run the full spectrum, so any claim serious enough to warrant a complaint needs to be handled by law enforcement.

The Manning part? As the RS fiasco highlighted, there is machinery in place to push these cases forward including corroborating witnesses.

I'm not saying it didn't happen or that Manning wasn't guilty of boorish jock behavior or worse. The point is that the public needs to be less involved in these cases, especially those that were settled long ago. It's too easy to throw accusations that today go around the world and last forever.

It was the Mannings themselves who brought this back up, repeatedly.

The woman kept quiet after they settled. She kept quiet for 7 years. They rehashed it not once, but twice. And we know why they did it. Did you actually read the transcripts?

The supporting witnesses were Manning's friends--who apparently couldn't tell a lie on his behalf.

What is alarming to me is that someone who appeared to be a hard worker and generally good person had a personality conflict and possibly one or more incidents with a person in position of authority/celebrity. While the end results are not certain, there is reason to believe that the person's removal from employment on two separate occasions may have been related to outside influences. It takes a special kind of evil to enact that on a person and family. As a member of the public, I want to know that my rights would be protected if I was ever stonewalled.

Gee, if you find that so hard to believe why don't you look up what Lawrence Phillips did to his then-girlfriend and how her getting her ass kicked by that Neanderthal cost her a basketball scholarship...

Listen my buddy played for BC in the let 70's early 80's and to be honest with you the football team believed, I mean believed, they owned the campus. Not all of them mind you, but some of the guys ran around doing stuff 10X worst than this and it was accepted. Some of it was brutal when you think in today's standards which have changed no doubt, like it or not. Problem was the groupies all wanted to be in the with the highly ranked national football team/players sometimes probably received more than what they were looking for. Not in a violent or abusive manner, just a "be careful what you ask for" manner after all they are a team. Listen I am not condoning anything they are saying, it's wrong and distasteful. But it happens in locker rooms and it's a joke, a really bad one that can be harmful, but is not meant to be I am sure. Call it entitement or whatever, it's what the universities with high profile teams have been glorifying whether they know it or not, hell the NCAA has some blame here. Kids are kids, they do things to each other to get a laugh in the locker room. You put yourself in a position where 18-23 year olds are walking around with their johnson's hanging out and you think you can take it then you need to be able to take a joke. Now having anything touching your face when you don't want to exceeds the "joke" stage and should be penalized (or is it penilized) but again, it's the locker room, meant to be a joke not a good one at all in this case.

Just stop, these two things have nothing to do with each other. If he beat the piss out of the ATC then he should have been thrown off of the team but that didn't happen sooooo
