Al Jazeera tries an undercover investigation.
Sly mentions names not knowing he is being recorded
Al J contacts the people who are being named.
Peyton, being included, hires detectives.
Detectives try to locate Sly.
Sly recants his statement. He and his lawyer say there was nothing to it.
Sly is cooperating with MLB & NFL
So, the Pats are victims?
The big inconsistency is that Sly's parents momentarily felt 1 investigator indicated they were with the police.
The investigator disagrees.
No charges have been brought by the police for impersonating an officer.
I suggest you read the Washington Post's account of their story. Not deadspins account of the Post's story. Nothing here. Not yet.
I still don't see a connection to the poor Pats
Dude, it comes down to treatment. Of the story and the infraction.
- Brady got raked over the coals for 8 months, over what amounted to nothing.
- The NFL went after him with all their missiles, going so far as to commission a multi million dollar hit piece on the guy.
- Pats fans figured it all out pretty quick and were called idiots and homers.
- They were eventually proved right.
- Brady's rep might not recover because of agenda driven league targeting and reporting.
- Manning has undercover allegations brought against him.
- Report shows for a couple of days and is forgotten.
- Reporters who shredded Tom, reply with, "I believe him because it's Peyton." Refuse to do their job.
- First blush, the NFL wasnt even going to cooperate with the joint investigation. Preferring to do their 'own'. Due to public pressure they now are cooperating.
If you can't see this. You are either being deliberately obtuse here or blind.
It's similar situation to the treatment of UCONN vs the treatment of, say, UNC. One is blown all out of proportion and is mostly BS. The other is quickly swept under the rug, both from a reporting and investigation perspective.
And yes, I realize Peyton has yet to be found guilty. But, there's circumstantial evidence--they've admitted HGH was shipped to his wife. And there is definitely motive. He's allegedly flown all over the world seeking treatments not allowed in the US. Peyton also happened to have one of the best seasons of his career, after coming back from 4 neck surgeries at 38 years old.
So where is the witch hunt? Where is the outcry? Does no one care if the 'integrity of the game' was violated? It's laughable. The Mannings are NFL royalty, as is UNC.
