is it exhausting to constantly be in a state of BACK IN MY DAY. If something is worse today, hey your generation raised it. Can't wait to root against my kids
Who is rooting against players today? I haven't seen any of that in the thread. The thread was started because a young current NBA star player said something totally ridiculous about former NBA players.

Ole heads be like "Take away the understanding of advanced stats, advancements in sports medicine and science, the ability to analyze and learn from previous athletes, better coaches/schematic differences, and smarter skill development starting at younger ages, the players of today would be JUST like the players from 20+ years ago!"

Yes, my dudes, if you took everything away from the players today that directly contributes to them playing at a higher level, they'd be like the players of 20+ years ago.

Nostalgia is so powerful, it's insane people argue about this.

Comparing eras is stupid. You have to factor in play style, how the game was reffed, all sorts of things. College teams don't even full court press now.

This last UConn team played the best brand of basketball I've seen. We play by far the best brand of basketball for this era, it's why you saw us destroy everyone in the tournament.
I recently watched some old teams and honestly the basketball seemed primitive. Those defenses would have no answer for the offense Dan Hurley runs and the offensive sets they run were nothing todays teams havent seen already. As far as comparing eras being "stupid" i say sure, but its fun off season talk. Live a little.

Do you watch current AAU ball?

Have you listened to Adam Silver's thoughts on American players coming into the league now?

Yup. Schemes and all that jazz may be at an all time high. But development is truly at a low for American basketball players coming into the league.

Players of certain eras seem to have a big effect on the game afterwards.

Jordan brought in an era of swingmen superstars who were great in 1 on 1 iso (Kobe, T Max, AI, Ray, Vince. etc.)

This new era is completely birthed from Steph and the Warriors as well as every 7’ wanting to be KD.

Yes, players are more skilled today, for a dozens of reasons. Yes, Ant is an idiot for thinking MJ was the only skilled player of his generation. There were plenty of skilled guys back then.

Yes.

You know Adam Silver is just a businessman, right? He's not a good resource for basketball takes. I'm not sure how his opinion even disproves my point?

Imagine if Hakeem had skills and athleticism? He could maybe even play in today's game against all these skilled freak athlete post players.

No, you're a much better resource for NBA basketball takes than Adam Silver.

I bet I watch 50x more basketball than Adam Silver. He's pretty busy managing a multi-billion dollar company.

According to Anthony Edwards one of them was skilled. Hakeem maybe could've played today if he developed some skill, he still probably wouldn't be athletic enough to play with the athletic freaks of today though.

Excuse me, gotta throw in Jalen Brunson as an American player that has a midrange and post game that also dominates at just 6’.

Shoutout Jay Wright for that.
