Agree. Tebow was Heisman winner and first round draft pick. He also played for Florida, national champions. Victor Cruz is better analogy and also you could say John Starks although Starks took a while to get going.

I am a huge Knicks fan and this is definitely the most fun I've had watching since the 1990s. The team plays to win and everyone seems to really like each other. We'll see what happens with Melo...

I like to compare him more to Victor Cruz more so then Tebow, Tebow had hype coming out of college Lin did not.

Lin and Cruz comparisons

undrafted check
both organizations criticized for letting their guys go Steve Smith on the Giants and Billups on the Knicks
both playing in NY
Shumpert is getting overlooked now just like Hakeem Nicks was for the Giants

Jeremy Lin wasn't offered a single D1 scholarship went undrafted and is putting up crazy #'s, Tebow was one of the most coveted college recruits, dominated in college and was a 1st round draft pick. They should never be compared to each other.

We'll see what happens with Melo...
it's gunna be tough for melo to come out of this looking good, considering how well the knicks have been playing lately (even if it hasn't been the toughest stretch, all fans care about is the wins).

nevertheless, the ceiling of the team with melo is much higher (although, i suppose the floor is too). i doubt the team as presently constituted would get far in the playoffs.

they were losing to crappy teams when melo was standing around with the ball. lin called for the iso on the last play on the game today. does he have balls or what???

i've been pretty down with uconn not playing well, but my knicks winning six straight does help a lot.

if there was a way to disable all incoming texts from any asian friends during knicks games, i would like lin a lot more. since apple didn't see the need for this feature, i am sliding slowly into the group of lin haters.

I haven't been this excited about the Knicks since 99. Man it's been a long time since those great Pacers/Heat/Bulls series.

Yea I've been listening to WFAN trying to wrap my head around Knicks fans worried about Amare(lesser extent) and Melo coming back. You can enjoy this now but that Knicks squad isn't doing in the playoffs without Amare and Melo playing at a high level. Melo's definitely got to adjust but its not like he's never played with ball dominant PGs before and played well. He was being asked to do to much as Point Forward when that's obviously not his game.

it's gunna be tough for melo to come out of this looking good, considering how well the knicks have been playing lately (even if it hasn't been the toughest stretch, all fans care about is the wins).

Its all about how well the pieces come together, it is amazing what difference a pg can make. I would like for this team to just leave the team the way it is and not make any major moves. In a weak eastern conference anything is possible I dont see this team beating Chicago or Miami in a 7 game series anyone else in the east is possible. This team needs to get above .500 first and not look back so at the moment it isnt even a discussion right now. Teams that win NBA titles usually have to overcome failure in the playoffs in past years.

my friend is the same way and i was trying to figure out why. let's see:
great college player: check
nothing expected in pros: check
main value to team was bringing in new markets (tebow lovers and asians): check
inserted when team was free falling: check
"single-handedly" turned team around: check
product of a system which hides flaws and makes them seem better than they actually are: check
over-saturation on espn creating numerous haters: check

seem pretty similar to me. it's probably all the religious crap that comes along with tebow.

Biggest difference is Tebow was hyped big time in high school and college. No one gave Jeremy Lin a scholarship even though he led his high school to 64-3 record while upsetting power house Mater Dei in the championship. Jeremy also plays basketball where if you are a scrub, you simply won't make it.

What he did tonight as his 5th start is incredible. He got such confidence attacking the lane. That final shot was ice cold you know it was going in the sec it left his hand. It is simply Linsane!

I just hope Boatright and Naiper watch some Jeremy Lin games. The biggest thing Jeremy has is his mental toughness. He keeps on playing hard no matter how many times they knocked him down.

The Rams Kurt Warner comparison is much better than Tebow. Warner went from packing groceries to the Super Bowl and soon Hall of Fame. Lin looks like an All Star PG. Tebow is a fluke, Lin is legit.

Tom Brady is another decent football comparison, Fernando Valenzuela is the best baseball comparison.

BTW, even though he's a great player, he's a turnover machine!

yeah but considering this is only his fifth career start, hes only 23 and is learning how to run an nba team he`s going to have turnovers but he`ll get better. scary to think what this kid will be in 5 years because i believe he is a legit big time pg.

No doubt, cutting down those turnovers will make him into an even scarier player.

The best thing about Linsanity is that it brings attention to team offense. I hate they way the game has devolved to where you just dump the ball to some designated star and have him "create".

awesome, its funny how Iman Shumpert is the forgotten guy on the Knicks now, he made some great defensive plays in the 4th quarter. Lin is taking full advantage of his opportunity good for him, welcome back Amare.
He's not forgotten by Knicks fans at all.

Trying to figure-out why I love Lin but hate Tebow. (And I'm not a Knicks fan in the least bit)
There are two reasons.

1) he's actually good across the board, not mostly good, some of the time, at running the ball from the QB position and occasionally throwing it, while sometimes being pitifully bad.

2) the story isn't about his religion. He is very religious, he doesn't make it a point to draw attention to his religion on court, and because of that, the usual suspects haven't glommed onto him to further their own agendas.

Lin is a smart guard. He is making the players around him better and raising all their levels. He is strong to the right and does seem to struggle going left, but that is fixable. He is in the right system for his skill set....go Jeremy

The most worrying thing about Melo and Amar'e returning is the defense which was stellar during the first 5 games of this streak. It got better in the 4th quarter last night, but Calderon was torching them through 3 quarters with Lin and Amar'e trying to defend the screen and roll. By subtracting minutes from Jeffries, and more minutes when Melo returns, hopefully the improvement on offense isn't offset by defensive deficiencies.

Linsanity continues! Lin with the game winning 3.
It was awesome. I loved the way the defender laid off of Lin for the last shot?

What was he thinking? It was not Lintelligent for him to do that.
