I live here. Have for 6 months so far for a temporary job. If I were to get a lateral job in Cincinnati, I'd break my lease and take it in a heartbeat. Vegas is a massive suburb, filled with poorly educated and slow people, that is cringe-inducingly shameless in its trashiness (its official slogan is "what happens here stays here"), has absolutely no culture, and survives/is built upon commercialized mystique. It really is a disgrace of a town. Not that Cinci's the best nor worst place to live, but what makes Las Vegas 50x greater as a place to live? Gambling? If, you gamble a lot. Tacky or trashy people, specifically way too many local residents? Entertainment? OK, but how many local people regularly go to the casinos for shows, concerts, etc.? Weather? If desert living floats someone's boat, perhaps. Destination city to live? Guess so for some people, and beauty's in the eyes of the beholder. Or, potential $ or a possible escape from Cincinnati for Cronin?
The only reason I'd consider living here for more than a year would be for what my high school buddy did; college at UNLV, join a frat, and host the Arizona and SoCal sororities when they visit. But now I wonder what his diploma is doing for him lol
The only genuine positive about Vegas IMO is its relatively central locations for so many awesome parks/forests within a 6 hour drive. It (and Nevada as a whole) is abysmal in nearly every metric. But the cost of living is low and there is no state income tax.
