Like what Bluedog said. Feel very proud, again, of the Husky's.
But worried that the AAC schedule will not be tough enough. We have thrived on extremely tough BE schedules to harden us in the past. This year will have breaks like we haven't known.

playing louisville and memphis with 2 days in between is easy?

My overall point here is that I think Phil has offered nothing to this point so I'm confused as to why he starts. If your telling me he plays so that he helps brimah saves fouls then he shouldn't be starting. As for Tyler he's a sr who I think is capable of playing the type offense that Ollie wants to run and I think it would be an interesting look with hi and Birmah on the flirt at the same time....Tyler can help with ball movement on the offensive end and you let brimah clog the middle and block shots on the defensive end. When you have giff Napier boat Omar and dd You have the luxury to not rely on the bigs for offense.

Who gives a about who starts? They all play the same amount of minutes basically, arguing about who's starting and who isn't is futile.

Simply put, the rest of the season I want the guy who rebounds the best in the game. Right now, none of them are rebounding well at all. It's great the Brimah can clog the middle, but if he's not rebounding he's not helping all that much for this team. In 9 games as a senior Olander has 10 rebounds. He helps in some areas, but you just can't play him that long if he's not going to rebound for you.

Who knows, Facey may be the best option by the end of the year.

Is it really that weird....I think Birmah has controlled the paint early against the top opponents we've played...they avg the same pts....Nolan avg a half a rebound more and brimah as 25 more blocks than Phil going into this game.....I think it's a no brainer u develop brimah NOW so he's ready for march. Remember Phil's 17 foot jump shot....missed dunk and foiling out in 11 mins of play against Florida? Weak.

Remember though that the 17 foot jump shot came with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

Said it once,
said it twice,
said it three times,
said it four times,
said it five time... you get it.

Giff comes off the bench and gives us a spark. Omar starts, Giff comes in. We haven't lost a game yet. Don't fix something that's not broken.

Do they ever? Yes, they do. Our guys get on the floor all the time.
And the thing with Omar, there is no way he is playing lazy. If anything he's pressing. That's what guys do when they're in a slump and it results in bad decisions. That's bad play, not lack of effort.

Lazy no I agree but 1 time for sure he had a chance to get the ball and elected to stand and bend rather than dive like the guy from Maine. You really think playing against Maine allows you to be more careful? Glad you never coached my kid.......every game, every play you play no different!

Best Team:

Bazz
Giff
Kromah
Daniels
Brimah (Play him 17-20 mins and roll the dice on his development)

JMHO...

I think that team logging the most minutes together is good enough to get to Dallas and maybe win it all.

Not bad BLUE agree with the Brimah thoughts kind of.......he doesn't hurt due to his shot blocking prowess and the more minutes the faster the learning cycle no doubt......Like Giffey in there too but need one of the 2, he and LK to come off the bench. Need that experience and impact when called upon.......Boat really looked better with his choices on pulling up for the short jumper rather than getting in too far......maybe its time!

I like LK defensively quite a bit mau. On the offensive end he is serviceable with a very consistent 3 point shot. I think this lineup will defend the perimeter very well (Bazz and LK) which is imperative with the new rules. Brimah as you mentioned adds the dynamic of altered shots in the paint. That is an underappreciated stat. He is a liability in some areas but comparatively speaking to our other options up front I would give Brimah the extra minutes.

I have my doubts that the above will come to fruition any time soon as it relates to my 5 top guys for minutes. Boat and Omar appear to be who Ollie is going to go with. Both are excellent players adding great depth but the Giff/LK combo is experienced, talented, mature and dependable. With Bazz and DD we would have three seniors and a Jr. at the top of the minute food chain.

BLUE, while I was saying I like one of the 2 (NG or LK) starting and not both, I do agree those 5 may reward us the best coming down the stretch with key minutes together on the floor! I also like the senior leadership they afford us during crunch time.......and LK defensively? Brings back Lyman memories, the kid can guard many spots on the floor.....

My overall point in starting this thread was to try and get a different perspective on things as opposed to being a bunch of homers. I mean complaining about the starting. 5 is indeed futile at this point but I have my eyes on March and with a third of the season down I think it's fair to discuss areas of improvement.

I have a feeling that the longer this season goes on the more and more were going to see improvements...roles defined...and confidence built.

Loving how these guys seemingly love playing for KO, each other...and the university of ct. When all is said and done this yr I have a feeling Napier will go down as my favorite all time husky!

Expectations seem to be ballooning a bit now. We have had a good start but our 4 best wins were by 1 or 2 points against teams, 3 of whom subsequently had their collective butts kicked (and Florida without a healthy Wilbekin will likely get slammed by Kansas and Memphis). Before the season, sweet sixteen was looked at as an admirable and achievable goal. All this talk about Dallas, final four and winning a championship are a bit over the top at this point.

Ok so who is your pick to win it all? In the alternative who are your top 4 seeds in the tourney as of today?

Edit: Who do you foresee as legit Final4 contenders?

All the teams appear to have some flaws right now. However, by February a lot of them will be sorted out. I still think it will be a pretty wide open tournament that will depend a lot upon matchups (e.g. Syrabuse could likely make quite difficult for teams like Kensucky and others who don't have experience with a zone but could lose to teams with strong guard play, who know their zone).
I think UConn will have a chance to contend. However, we are having a lot of success off the 3 pt. shot right now (the old saying "live by the three and die by the three") and have a pretty glaring Achilles' heel of weak interior defense and rebounding on both ends.
Better to be humble and temper our expectations IMO.

Boatright is the 2nd best player on the team. He has to be out there. You overrate Kromah.

Back to the OP, you can't argue much about undefeated. But I would like to see a bit more from DD and Omar. I don't think they have matched their last years' best yet.

Boat is definitely not the 2nd best player.

Napier, gap, Daniels/Giffey, gap, Boat.

People have been hating on the AAC this year but it really is an underrated conference. We will have plenty of games in conference to prove ourselves

Problem with Boat is he's our 2nd best player every 3 games or so.......need him to be that guy Waq consistently and make the right plays, smart plays consistently especially with the weaker interior as we play rebounding and power teams. He looked real good vs Maine in choosing his shots and making plays offensively. If we can get him to stay in front of his guy on defense, stay patient and pick his spots for the steal we'll be better also. Too many risks on D leaves our big guys all out of whack trying to help. For now DD seems to be taking the 2nd best player slot we'll see as time moves on, we do need Boat!
