I think Lawson's commentary has been just fine. She remarked about liking Gray and Bird but she also was extremely complimentary of DT to start the Aussie game and everything that she brings to the table. She said something like "When DT is out there, the team feels more empowered. They feel like they can't lose. That presence she has, no question helps the Americans."

I just think these type of comments are someone that loves/appreciates DT's game. And her comment of liking two facilitators (Bird and Gray) doesn't mean a thing regarding how much of an impact she feels DT is.

I think she likes both Gray and DT. I think everyone on here likes both. So when they play well enough positive comments are gonna fly, and not meant to detriment either.

Arike could be the candidate for instant offense off the bench. USA Basketball has invited her to the workouts and invited her to one of the teams, so they clearly have her in mind. She has a better shot at making the team than Jefferson.
[whispers] Maybe not. I hear the fix is in.

Hmm, she's not even the best guard on her team. I would put her behind Mabrey.
It's kind of a double-edged sword for MoJeff. I think the quantity of minutes she's getting is beneficial to her health. I'm not sure any team would want to ramp up her minutes unless she can string together a few seasons with no injuries.

Very very bad take ~~~

To play on Team USA 3 x 3, in the Olympics, you needed qualifying points. Arike hasnt played 3 x 3 since 2015(at least I see no mention of her playing it anywhere since). I dont know if the points she had playing 3x3 back in 2013 thru 2015 carry this far out. If they had, she might have been considered ahead of Jackie Young. All four players on Team USA, plus KLS, all played in a tournament in Pittsburgh in Dec 2019 thru January 2020, and accumulated points. Others who have played in other tournaments in 2019 were Bella Alarie, Christyn Williams, Michela Oneynwere, Aleah Goodman(now a coach) and Charli Collier. Recent USA players who just won a tournament in Latvia, in July 2021, are Cierrra Burdick, Linnae Harper, Alex Peterson, Jordan Reynolds and Breanna Richardson.

It might be moot whether Arike would be a great 3x3 player if she shows no recent interest in getting points.

Her ability.
She was a great college player, but based on how her pro career has evolved, she has a greater chance to be out of the league in 2024 than on the Olympic team. I say that with great sadness; she was spectacular while at UConn, but her size almost never translates into a great pro career.

Just like the other night
You put in the 2nd group and the offense grinds to a halt
then tonight, the 1st group which needed a bit of time at the outset
to find their rhythm; doesn't have it right away
Slowly, order being restored

We had 25 points in the first quarter and we were rolling by 15, but only 5 more after the first 6 minutes of the second quarter when the starters were out and a total of 16 after the starters went back in. At one point Staley had 4 guards on the court.

41-23 at the half.
I hope all those doubters who said it was time for Bird to give someone else her spot are watching. The USA offense isn't better when she's in, it's much better. (And she's 2 for 2 tonight from 3).

A good run at the end of Q2 to expand the lead. I think it was 16-11 for Q2. Not dominating, but not bad.

Diana holding her hip and wincing :(
Serb girl backed into her setting a screen. I guess they only call moving if they’re moving side to side. Diana didn’t need that. Hurting big time.

USA has played airtight D so far.
That's been the constant this game.
Gray has been impressive too.

Gray has solidified her position on the team. I know TO's are an issue but she is an elite clutch scorer and at times a fantastic passer.
