Whoa...here we go! The Administration is on this board..kidding..but maybe not..honestly I don't know but from the implied tone this sure sounds like some HR Administration compliance department strict constructionist mumbo jumbo. By your own logic I suspect that if he were winning you would be calling for his dismissal as well. I think not. These are not mutually exclusive. This is not an "either or" situation. I don't think many folks on this board is stating that Ollie performed to the expectations but to the contrary. You are not going to get much of an argument from anyone on this point so lets stop trying to manufacture one. I certainly have not denied that KO failed miserably at key executive functions of the role and is responsible for essentially not effectively managing what he could control and in the spirit of "HR Administration compliance department strict constructionist mumbo jumbo" that would include "All functions of the role, not part of it, but all of it". How was that? You could not have said that better yourself. If K.O. was the big idiot, incompetent, ignorant, immoral. cluster **that many on this board have been claiming that he is then how in the world did JC and 2 Administrations miss this bad on this hire? How? Who is responsible for that? It's not like he came out of nowhere. If they knew about this all of this time and didn't say anything, reprimand him or address any of these matters with him while at the same time smiling and lying to his face, smiling on camera, saying all the right things while searching for a replacement with the blessing of JC and Glenn Miller then how can you honestly absolve all responsibility for this from UCONN and the Administration. To my knowledge everyone had wonderful things to say about him especially his character. I'm also not aware of any substance abuse or psychological behavioral disorders. It's like this big mystery...."What Happened to K.O?" The only thing that is out there and confirmed that reasonably can be thought to be a contributing factor is his divorce.
I have love for KO and I have love for my beloved University however this contingent of convenient Administration supporters co-signing on the grimey tactics utilized is shameful. I would have more respect for this contingent if they simply admitted that (1) The Administration is ultimately responsible for creating this mess and not cleaning it up (2) That the current Administration tactics around the handling of the termination of K.O. is not representative of the values that UCONN supports and abides by and (3) despite 1 & 2 I'm o.k. with the Universities continued use of questionable tactics to clean up this mess for the greater good of the State and the University of Connecticut. Once we start winning people will forget. We do not want to drag the citizens of Connecticut and UCONN nation through another day of this and that we are doing everything we can to close the matter.
At least that would be more honest on it's face and less hypocritical as it relates to this false narrative that "IT"S ALL OLLIE'S FAULT" in my grown man voice. This MOB mentality of this contingent is nasty, nasty, nasty.
