Oklahoma, Texas & the SEC

Well, Texas and Oklahoma can bring a lot of “ adopted” titles in football and baseball to the SEC. Kinda like the Big’s Wbb title from Maryland - and baseball titles from U$C and UCLA.
They don’t bring any titles to the conference. They bring title winning schools. Fine distinction, but it matters.

While this is true, it seems conferences will try to claim titles won by member schools when they were in other conferences. Ask the Big 10 how many women's volleyball championships they have and they'll probably try to sneak in a handful of Nebraska's from when they were in the Big 8/12.

We want Oklahoma and Texas baseball championships included in theSEC totals , :D

The media also tends to lump in accomplishments from prior conferences when stating stats and streaks. Like I could see Texas's 2005 national championship in football being lumped in with the rest of the SEC football national championships as part of a stat showcasing the SEC dominance in football. Things like that...

This kinda got me hyped. Im interested in this team. They sortve become underrated. When you think about the talent of Jewel Spear, whitehorn, Coop, Latham, and Hollingshead. Spencer, Wells, Pucket. They have a solid roster. Its just they need a couple of those players to make a learning from really solid rotation players to like all conference team members imo.

I am really excited about this team. Like Caldwell said they don't even know how high their ceiling is. I like this Caldwell hire.

Not surprising, just disappointing

One of the LSU assistants was hinting that we'll have some fun matchups in the Bahamas tournament. UConn is also in that tourney so there's a chance we might get to see LSU/UConn.

Same

Mulkey is a great coach, she still has a lot of talent despite losing Reese, she really should schedule significantly better than she does. To me she can still schedule all rent of a wins with MUCH better quality but it never happens. Her LSU scheduling has been something else compared to when she was at Baylor. Her Baylor schedules weren't overwhelming but you still saw some ranked teams in the OOC schedule sprinkled in and at least had resume potential building quality opponents on the OOC schedule.

Who is all supposed to be in that Bahamas tournament? I know UCONN is

Not a fan of South Carolina at Texas being played on Super Bowl Sunday
Did you see Vic on SEC Now last night? They had a couple segments on the schedule release, including one with him. He was excellent, but he always is, I think.

I think they did it for the TV numbers -- assuming it is an early afternoon game. If I remember correctly, something like this happened in the past and had good TV ratings due to so many people keeping their TV on ESPN on Superbowl Sunday.

This is the first time the Super Bowl will ever be televised by ESPN. It's always been alternating between ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. I think ESPN will spend all day with its pre-game Super Bowl analysis and shows. So, most likely this game will be on ESPN2, ESPNU, or SECN. Perhaps this game will actually be on ABC.

I guess my perspective is from someone who wants to attend the game in person, but still have my normal all afternoon/evening Super Bowl party get-together. If this game was in SC instead of at Texas, I'd be more on board with it . . . :p

I completely understand! I would be equally frustrated since this will probably be the most anticipated matchup in the SEC this season.

My response was more or less offering a hypothetical justification for their decision and nothing else.

This is Year One and anything can happen. If the players buy in and put in the work over the summer and during preseason workouts, the Lady Vols could be a problem. I love Pucket and her game and I am loving the new coach and her energy. I hope the Lady Vol fan base keep a level head on their expectations on their new coach.

I wonder how the LSU players privately feel about the crappy out of conference schedule Mulkey sets up!

Rori Harmon gets her medical redshirt!

Happy for Harmon and would love to see her stick around a 5th year. Only caveat is if she stays, I wonder how it could affect their recruitment of Chavez who will be a freshman next year.
