Buter lost to Austin Peay 66-68 last night which isn't a great look for them. There was a cool highlight from Hansel Enmanuel, whose name a few of you might recognize from his high school highlights. Hansel lost one of his arms in an accident when he was 6 and still made it to the D-1 level. Here's a highlight from him last night:

That Hansel is so hot right now.

Jahki Howard was one the Auburn players whose fighting caused their flight to turn around. Top tier athlete but I seem to remember we abruptly stopped recruiting him due to behavioral concerns. Another point for Hurley.

But you're using cupcake in a way that nobody does. Cupcakes are the games that you're expected to win by 40+ and are the bottom ranked teams. They're not the solid mid majors on the schedule. That's the only thing I was calling out, everything else you posted is just nonsense moving the goalposts
Stop it, I am not moving any goalposts at all. The +40 points is just a specific criteria you just made up. The term cupcake is a general term that describes teams deemed to be at a higher level scheduling buy in games with against a lower level team with the expectation of it be an easy tune up win. For example, like Alabama being favored by 23.5 points against.....wait for it.... Arkansas St.

Like I stated before, if Arkansas St makes the NCAAT or at least posts a really good record, then I will admit I was wrong to dismiss them and Vegas would have been wrong to dismiss them.

They're not the solid mid majors on the schedule.

The point of my original post was that Alabama, who many predict will be in the Final Four, should not be struggling at home against Arkansas St which you largely agreed with, but instead you chose to nitpick on the use of the term cupcake. Fine, call Arkansas St something else if that will put your mind at ease.

They both defend at a really high level. Offense looks ugly though
Yeah obviously we’re spoiled but I don’t see anything happening on offense here but some ISO.

Not super impressed so far with Auburn-Houston.
Broom looked pretty freaking good against the best defensive front court in the country. 20pts 9rebs and 5blks.

Yeah...that's the thing, a high level defense tends to make the opponents offense look pretty ugly.

Times that by 2 when you have 2 good defensive teams on the floor.

Seen that play out in UConn games in the past.

Alabama hasn't impressed me so far this season.
The SEC just is an overrated conference. Way too many bad teams, and the top can’t win big at home vs. mid-majors.

"Cupcake" comments got me thinking. Checked 11/8/24 Massey spreads and Alabama game were favored by 20.5 and there were 27 games that day where one team was favored by MORE than that. and a lot (18) were over 30 points.

Lot of mismatches. UConn was 30.5 favorite against New Hampshire.

Lot of super cupcakes. At 20 points spread Massey gives 6% chance for upset, at little over 30 points gives 0% chance of upset.

Nova is the worst team in the Big East. It's amazing how they decided to set fire to their program when Jay Wright retired. I'll never understand it.

Tough to watch them, their offense is one ball screen and go, it’s like I’m playing 2k.
