Anyone who receives the opportunity to get a scholarship from Texas and can’t perform the simple task of getting into condition to play at that level does not have all the tools to be a special player. And Aston is to blame also for not making her get in condition before putting her on the floor.

I should have said physical tools. If she can improve work ethic and change her mentality she could be a beast. I don't think conditioning was the main issue as much as she was playing selfish basketball and making poor decisions when she did get time. Aston did bench her too, Rellah only played in about half of their games and logged just 10 mpg...very low for the #3 recruit in the country. Her stated reason for leaving was lack of playing time.

Joyner still has a chance to become a great player................that's totally up to her and her coaches/.................I don't know anybody that didn't think there was a good chance Boothe was going to wash out at Texas..........she's the poster child for the kind of player Geno runs away from..........

I agree about Joyner. Definitely has the skills and ability to be a great player. Last year was pretty much wasted due to the suspension and her being so far behind the curve when she came back. If she works hard in the offseason and comes to training camp ready to go she should be a 15ppg scorer for Texas. The 2016 class has been somewhat underwhelming as a whole, but I could definitely see many highly rated players from that class hitting their stride this year. Any/all of Holmes, Boley, Slocum, Sutton and Dangerfield could be primed to breakout this year.

Really hoping Coach Yo (as she is called) can resurrect the Ole Miss program. She is slowing adding pieces and i was impressed with her Jacksonville teams so if she can recruit at the P5 level she will push her way up the SEC food chain.

Turned away? How is that when u were the number 1 recruit in the country. Who would pass up that. Doesn’t make sense she got passed up.. did it occur that Sam decided that ND was the right place for her? Seems that every time a top recruit decides on another school it’s we backed off...sam even said she was offered a scholly from UCONN so that wouldn’t change in less then a year ... she frankly backed off on UCONN not the other way around.. she took visits and knew ND was a better fit.. it happens

Brunelle was 1000000% not offered a scholarship at UConn. She may be rated as the #1 recruit, but anybody that has watched her play for more than 30 seconds can tell you that she is definitely not the best recruit in America. Don't get me wrong, she is a great player! She is just not on the same level as Boston, Jones, Horston, Bueckers, Fudd, etc. There is a reason that she got the 2nd fewest minutes of anybody on the U17 team. There were also posts on here by a "family friend" of Brunelle, that stated UConn had backed off long before she committed to Notre Dame. Stop trolling, it's really not a good look.

She said herself that she received an offer, on an unofficial visit. Maybe UConn rescinded the offer, but how do you do that? You do that by backing off. I'm sure she noticed. To say she was 1000000000% not offered is ignorant. She was offered at one point. The recruit herself is the most credible source.

And it was written by a reporter(I forget which one) that she did NOT receive an offer. Maybe she was just trying to save face? Did you ever think of that? UConn is known for not officially offering scholarships until a recruit takes an official visit.

Ummm let’s get over it. Whether she did or didn’t she’s not going to UConn:

Jazmin Shelley (5’9” - 2019 Aus.) is on her Official Visit to Oregon State. Reported Oregon, Texas, South Carolina, and Nebraska are a possibility of other finalists.

Didn’t even know we were looking at International players. Who’s reporting this?

Recruiting update from ESPNW

i

Malu Tshitenge-Mutombo, niece of former NBA star Dikembe Mutombo and one of the top women's basketball recruits in the 2019 class, on Friday committed to North Carolina.

The 6-foot-3 senior post player at St. John's College High School (Washington, D.C.) and the No. 56 prospect in the espnW HoopGurlz Top 100 chose the Tar Heels over Notre Dame.

So in other words, her response to ND was:

giphy.gif

frankly I was hoping she would say yes, yes, yes to ND because that would have lessened the odds of Boston jumping ship to ND...........did Mutombo pick UNC because she would get more playing time or because she was told Boston is on the way so don't bother?

They were both told that ND is a guard's school and posts should go elsewhere. :)

And if you believe that, I can send you to tickets to the new Kim Mulkey fundraising auction, "Sports Jackets I Have Tossed...for Winning!" *

Charlie's point is an interesting one, but I refuse to get too up about it for fear of getting hit by an astray purple sports jacket!

* After hearing the news today ("oh boy"), you just need to let your imagination go....

I seriously was waiting for you to post that. I think she is definitely a good addition, but her rankings have dropped dramatically. Still in the 40s in PN but was once a top hoopgurlz prospect and is now not even in top 100. She is still a talent no doubt there. A great start for UW. Washington has no shortage of talent, but they gotta keep it home and snag a few from elsewhere. Sometimes I wonder how different the PAC would be had Ionescu chosen UW over UO

I think Miller is interesting in that regard. I think she was once in the top 50 for HG before dropping out and her high school numbers are not impressive. UW is saying she will be playing without a position which is strange for a 6'4" recruit. Although she said she was also considering UCLA and Oregon, I don't know how serious they were as there has been almost nothing about her on the recruiting trail.

But yes, UW getting her is much better than UW not getting her.

And while we're on the Pac what-ifs, what if Kelsey Plum went to her very close second choice, Cal?

Ionescu's recruitment was so weird. I don't think she was really very interested in UW but she and her HS/AAU coach were just seeing if they could leverage the situation to get something they wanted.

I'm still so disappointed by how little talent Neighbors brought in after he got Plum and Osahor. Left a deep hole for Wynn to dig out of. Basically got nothing out of 2 consecutive classes, you just can't do that. The McDonald/Melgoza/Henson/Garcia class could've really made a difference but McDonald left after Neighbors did and Garcia has yet to play due to injuries (and I'm really doubting she's ever going to play). So instead you have one really good player and one decent supporting player. And part of the blame lies w/ Adia Barnes as well, who is now killing it at Arizona but apparently couldn't convince anybody to come to Seattle when she was an assistant coach on the staff.

Anyway, yeah I've seen Miller's stock has dropped, but they've had such a hard time getting any local players to stay home, I can only hope this is a first step in turning the tide. We'll see.

Last year was a recipe for disaster from the start. The 1-17 league record looks terrible, but it's actually kind of amazing they kept the score close in as many games as they did, given their lack of experience, size and talent. I think Wynn might end up being a good hire, as long as she can start winning a few recruiting battles. She got the team to play hard and not give up last season.

Alyson Miura and Angel Jackson (Hoopgurlz 36) for USC while UCLA added a Canadian wing too. Will be interesting to see where Jazmin Shelley lands. Oregon St? Oregon? Nebraska? Still haven’t seen anything on her OV to Oregon St but claims were made she was on campus.
