Nelson has never once gave us what in his mind would be a feasible 12 game FBS schedule as an Indy.

That's because there is no feasible 12 game FBS schedule that can be made as an Independent. I think the call for football independence is essentially giving up on football and concentrating on basketball. If that's the case, the State who approved $90+M to build the stadium may never give UCONN another dime. Without a schedule, UCONN loses fans, recruits, and games.

No. If UCONN goes Independent, they might as well take the Rent down brick by brick and pave a parking lot for Cabella's. P5 is moving towards filling their schedules with MORE games against P5, not less. UCONN is having a hard enough time scheduling Illinois and Indiana as an AAC member. UCONN as an Independent would get a schedule along these lines:

UMASS
Buffalo
Army
Rhode Island
Texas Southern
Villanova
Towson
Maine
Toledo
Akron
Delaware
Norfolk St.

Good luck selling tickets to that. And for what? An extra $3M/yr (not even enough money to fund the hockey upgrade)? Huge annual basketball games against powerhouse Providence and DePaul?? C'mon. Enough of this nonsense. Patience. We are in year 2 of the B1G 3-5 Year Plan. You want to generate more revenue for the school? Buy tickets. Buy merchandise. Donate to the school. Time for UCONN fans and alumni to help out the school and athletic department that we all love.

UMass (home)
Buffalo (away)
UNC (Meadowlands)
Kent State (home)
New Mexico State (home)
Idaho (home)
Louisiana-Monroe (away)
FIU (home)

This would be a typical schedule, with a typical home slate in bold.

Total lost revenue: 8 million
Total revenue gained from Big East Conference: -4 million for at least the next three years, then MAYBE +1 million for the two years after that

Net total loss: 12 million to 7 million

Indy....great pick!

This sounds about right. Going Indy in football completely wipes out any money UCONN would make playing basketball in the Big East.

Want more proof that UCONN's schedule would suck if we went Indy? Here

P5 schools are going to schedule more P5 schools. Not less. Let's put this asinine football independence idea to bed already.

You really think we could get Idaho at home? If so....I'M IN!!!!

The only way to go independent in football would be to join the Big10 in all other sports, with an agreement to get 5 football games with the conference annually.

That works for me depending on the compensation.

This is clearly the inferior Non-Key Tweets thread.
