It's not about media markets anymore, it's about content. If ESPN, and I'm not saying they will, but if they moved certain schools from the ACC to the SEC then they'd own the bulk of "Rivalry Week" under one banner. What I think is more likely is that they'll work to create my synergy between the two conferences and strengthen the ACC. Otherwise they're really taking money from one pocket and putting it in the other. But.. don't think it's about media markets anymore. It's not.

No need to be an a hole. In 2023 Duke was as high as No. 16 in the AP Rankings. While they did not enter T25 this year, I believe they ended up 30th in the rankings. Considering the rivalry with UNC, I would be surprised if they were not included in a pulled out of someone’s a z z scenario. They would be in a better position FB wise than us or did you miss the 20-teens and our lack of success?

I'm being like this because I keep seeing the same wrong ideas pop up.

Duke's attendance figures would fit perfectly in the the MAC. They don't have the pull in the conference shuffle.

He's right about the SEC and basketball. And the Big East looks like 4, 3, maybe 2 bid league in the future. Not good. Better competition makes you better and will HP long-term with recruiting. That said I have zero confidence the ACC will do what's in their best interest by offering us. They've had many chances and passed.
 
I'm telling you guys, the future is basketball with little movement left to be made in football. The reason being; basketball is more content for a network and right now is more about content than markets in the world of streaming services. There's more basketball games played than football and basketball is still a huge money maker too. It's why the A4 are wanting to control the tournament.

Personally? I'm largely indifferent to basketball. I'd rather my team do well than not, but it's not my favorite thing to watch. Having said that, I don't need a weather vane to tell me which way the wind is blowing and it's blowing up a positive direction for UConn at the moment.

The ACC pays out more and ESPN signed on to the extension of their back loaded agreement, which will widen the gap between them and the BigXII throughout the course of the agreement. Don't be so shocked if it's the ACC poaching BigXII schools, and yes, I do think UConn will end up a part of things as well in some capacity.

Just a few short weeks ago I was thinking there would be more of a merger of ACC and Big East, but now I think it might end up more a media agreement wherein Big East content ends up on the ACC Network and with that, some form of strong scheduling agreement between programs. Again, this benefits UConn.

you know somebody was crying about the NHL forsaking ESPN around 2004 and I'm like "that espn would have been glad to make hockey the 8th most popular sport in the US". Of course ESPN would do that.

ESPN's non game programming is in the narrative setting business and you only build narratives amongst groups that are already popular.
