Why can't both be legitimate takes?Superjohn, let's be nice to midwesterners.
Also superjohn, Memphis is worst than Baghdad and their students can't read.
Didn't say it they couldn't be. But its funny to say lets be nice then rip some other school. By the way i can't stand Memphis, but i still find it funny to tell people to be nice than crap on another city/school.Why can't both be legitimate takes?
ACC East
1) UConn 2) Cuse 3) BC 4) VT 5) UVA
ACC South
1) NC St 2) Duke 3) Wake 4) GT 5) USF
ACC Central:
1) Pitt 2) Lville 3) Memphis 4) Tulane 5) SMU
ACC West:
1) Wazzu 2) OR St 3) Cal 4) Stanford 5) SDSU
20 schools plus Notre Dame as a non-football member w/ a scheduling agreement. I'd take it as a worst case scenario.
Tennessee isn't the Midwest. Everyone craps on Memphis.Didn't say it they couldn't be. But its funny to say lets be nice then rip some other school. By the way i can't stand Memphis, but i still find it funny to tell people to be nice than crap on another city/school.
yeah i would be fine watching UConn compete in that iteration of ACC for the rest of my life but we cant know how many ACC teams will be leftover or who they will be. that's too big of a risk to count on.Stuff like this is why I think 20(+1) would be the sweet-spot for fans/competition. Play your pod every year and rotate the other 3 through for football. 9 conference football games. Play everybody once a year for basketball giving 19 (20) conference games. That said if the ACC falls apart I don't necessarily see the Big 12 stopping at 20. The B1G and SEC might

without F$U, Miami, Clemson, UNC it wouldnt be the ACC that we know and hate, and necessarily hates us, but i agree w/ the sentimentThe ACC does not want us for whatever reason. I’d much rather go someplace that wants us and sees our value, then be left with what’s left after it implodes
So at this point ... the Big East. Let's see how staying works out for us over time. Not that we have much of a choice. Being UConn we know that the end game will be the worst possible scenario... UConn and Big East teams poached bball only. Football stays on the vine. The ACC does not want us for whatever reason. Memphis is even below Big 12 standards academically as they would be the lowest ranked Big 12 school. Eight Big 12 schools are ranked 115 or below by US News with the lowest ranked school, WVU and Texas Tech tied at 216. Memphis is ranked 269.I think Memphis is a better fit for the Big 12 in the eyes of Presidents regionally, culturally, football-wise, and academically, and they have solid bball. I would not be surprised if they ultimately leapfrog us after this dog and pony show.
I wouldn't take swipes at the kids or say any awful stereotypes of the people who live there.Superjohn, let's be nice to midwesterners.

there's only two things I can't stand in this world.Superjohn, let's be nice to midwesterners.

I think as fans, we need to understand this. The big east will cease to be a power basketball conference because we will not be able to compete with not only the new media deals revenue, even if we got rid of football because we won’t be able to do revenue distribution with the players, which is also something that is now reality. You’re not going to get kids to come play at UConn if we do not have same sources of income for them as we do now.So at this point ... the Big East. Let's see how staying works out for us over time. -1000% chance of UConn, Colorado and the Arizonas or not the Arizonas getting invited to join the Big 12. -1000%. Once the Big 12 turns west, it is never turning east again.
To clarify, UConn is joining the Big 12 on its own, or it isn't. There is a higher likelihood of UConn joining the Big 12 with UMass than there is of Colorado, UConn and UA/ASU joining the Big 12 together.
WE GET IT. you are a broken record. who are you even arguing? everyone with a brain understands that we have to get into the BIg12 before it becomes certain that the ACC is imploding, which will be by 2036 at the latest. These "Big 12 is adding UConn so it can add a bunch of ACC schools later" theories sound familiar. They were ridiculous last summer, and they are ridiculous this summer.
If the Big 12 is adding UConn, it means it doesn't think the ACC is breaking up anytime soon.
Isn’t ESPN full of Syracuse alumni? You have no idea how many people outside of Connecticut believe that ESPN favors us greatly and that the only reason for our success is because ESPN is a resident of our state.
Most can't comprehend that a state company would not want to do anything it could to promote the state school and there aren't a lot of people who truly follow what has transpired over the past decade and a half.

The only proactive move was to destroy the Big East. It sat back and thought it won the endgame. Trouble is the game wasn’t over and every move since has been reactive. The ACC has had two decades for assertive action that would make all the sense in the world for them and they've done nothing but continue to weaken their brand.

Maryland was not going to sign the grant if rights. They shoved Maryland out the door by pushing them into a second/third class in their basketball conference scheduling. The Big Ten observed and the Big Ten pounced.

Once again, academics are meaningless in conference realignment. If they B1G wanted them, they would get them into the AAU.Memphis is even below Big 12 standards academically as they would be the lowest ranked Big 12 school. Why do you think they added SMU then? These "Big 12 is adding UConn so it can add a bunch of ACC schools later" theories sound familiar. They were ridiculous last summer, and they are ridiculous this summer.

They would need to explain to schools from other countries why football matters for AAU entry.Once again, academics are meaningless in conference realignment. If they B1G wanted them, they would get them into the AAU.
Free money and Dallas cable carriage? Why do you think they added SMU then?
We need to merge with either McGill University or University of Toronto so as to gain favor/entry into the B1G.They would need to explain to schools from other countries why football matters for AAU entry.
Before you put a fork in your nutsack, put one in theirs... (And maybe a second one in their forehead...No set of circumstances would make me want to put a fork in my nutsack. None. Ever.
Yes, but they're stuck with them now, which isn't a bad thing if the whole thing is going to implode anywayFree money and Dallas cable carriage?
