We’re currently locked into a $30,000:000 exit fee for 6 yearsCrazy. However, if it is anywhere near accurate, it would be a tough decision to leave it for a withering ACC that could actually see a pay reduction. Things could get complicated.
This is the second time I’ve heard this number. My guess is that the number of years is off. Make that 6 year deal a 9 year deal and we are right at 10 mill per school. Seems more likely.
Could also mean we add 3-5 schoolsThere’s 11 schools to split the payments, not 10, so it’d be just over $15M
That would be six years after we joined which was in 2020. So there's only two years left until the drop down to 15 million. If I recall correctly it stays at $15M for years seven through nine, and drops to $10M at year 10.We’re currently locked into a $30,000:000 exit fee for 6 years
You're way lowballing. 12 a year would be satisfactory, 15/15+ would be a big win. There's no way the six years is true if it's "almost" $1b unless "almost" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Maybe it's 600/6 with some sort of mutual option to renew to 900/9
Unless they somehow think women's basketball is going to be huge and we did a lot of heavy lifting there
I could see these numbers but UConn would have to stay in the conference for the full 6 years or Big East contract would be worth much less. I would think the networks would want to guarantee that by putting in a new GOR with the signing of the new Big East contract. You're way lowballing. 12 a year would be satisfactory, 15/15+ would be a big win.
Correct question:Why is a Nebraska sports editor and columnist thinking about UConn?
Lol 10 wins? If the football team wins 8 there will be a parade!!Brohm will be a lifer at Louisville.
He is a very innovative offensive coach....a lot of Uconn fans would be thrilled with 10 win seasons on a regular basis.
He's a total UConn hater. He pretty much hates everything that isn't the B1G.Genetics56 falls in a tier lower than non-key tweets.
I thought he was saying to add UConn for basketball and a scheduling agreement for football. That is what I say No to.I’ve actually noticed a few places lately, that UConn is not expected to want to leave the Big East because of our obvious success. That may be why the guy above mentioned a scheduling agreement. He may think that we would not be interested in a diluted ACC. I’m not sure the people saying this stuff are really considering the financial aspects of it, but even during March madness, it was mentioned that we just belong in the Big East and that’s our identity. Given that Syracuse and Boston College have completely lost their identity, it isn’t crazy thinking. These guys just fail to consider the finances when saying this stuff.
Maybe, either way, he doesn’t understand our motivations. There are even scenarios where people predict the endgame and show Notre Dame and us as the last two independents. That’s clearly because they think that we would never give up our Big East affiliation, especially to join a non-power conference. It just kind of seems like the average Joe might think we’re very comfortable in the Big East and as a football independent. Remember, a lot of these people think we don’t care about football so their assumption that the Big East is paramount to us is understandable.I thought he was saying to add UConn for basketball and a scheduling agreement for football. When I first read the tweet, this is what I interpreted as well. But then I read it again and felt like he was saying UConn basketball would stay in the big east but football would have a schedule agreement. Now I’m leaning back towards a basketball only invite. He doesn’t elaborate well on this viewpointI thought he was saying to add UConn for basketball and a scheduling agreement for football. That is what I say No to.
