Non-Key Tweets

I am confused. If someone hears good news regarding CR, and they are an allegedly a reliable source, it can only mean that an invite is coming whether they state such or not. There is no other good news in CR other than an invite for UConn. Over a year has now passed and there is really nothing of substance. Even our new AD has stated that CR will happen if it is meant to be. I think Skiblet's source was likely incorrect.
Let me help make it more clear.

Let's say just for arguments sake that Skiblets inferred UConn had signed a confidentialy agreement with the B1G. Now that does not mean that UConn is going to the B1G. But it is good news regarding CR.

Its been over a year and I can't remember exactly what Skiblets posted in the first place. But I do remember that he did not infer that an invitation was ever imminent.

UCONN and Temple will be joining the ACC per sources close to the situation.

@UConn6thBorough @ki676love @DebraFacebook I read the others and she was on point

If true, congrats to UCONN. You have arrived at the big dollar table.

I don't know whether to trust this. Facebok is the South African outlet for FB. Not sure anyone has good sources in South Africa, but hey, this is the non-key tweet thread.

From the other tweets, it seems like this person is in Texas and "Facebok" is a typo. Tweet is very strange. Hey, we've been wondering if the ACC is going to make a move on UConn now that the Big 12 could be in play.

At this point, I would read what Debra from Facebook says about CR before reading about many national sports writers have to say. I am tired of reading "if the Big 12 expands with, say, Cincinnati and Tulane/Tulsa/SMU/UCF/USF/Memphis/Houston..." nonsense.

Another problem is it was brought to your Titterverse by J ‏@UCONNfan14. No offense (I know it's someone that reads the Boneyard) but dude is unhinged, to say the least.

He had a few unbalanced weeks on Twitter running breathlessly back and forth between Flugs, Mver, Dude, and Bluevod. Now he's switched the game to make it seem he has sources and "hears" things.

Sad.

Source at WVU believes if no ACC schools can be added then we add UC and Uconn in all sports and BYU and UCF in football only.

CHOP ‏@Ruknighttime 4h4 hours ago

@BrewDog44 no idea.

Source at WVU says 2 teams in all sports and 2 in FB add enough inventory for network. Also not getting BYU unless fb only due to byutv

nathanmills ‏@nathanmills 2h2 hours ago
@MH ver3 why would BYUtv be in the way of full sports invite?

MH ver3 ‏@MH ver3 2h2 hours ago
@nathanmills not sure it's just what he told me.

I have to say this last bit makes sense and suggests to me that his source may be real. BYUTV means everything to BYU. It is a forum to reach the LDS and covers more than sports. They can't surrender it, and without content, it can't sustain itself. So BYU for football is very logical.

Hmmn, there may be more to this story than meets the eye:
Jim@aol.com
Hearing that ESPN is very concerned about loss of Big Ten content and is moving to shore up the ACC. If the Big 12 gets a network first FSU and another school, likely Clemson will move.

Jim@aol.com
ESPN/ACC scrambling to get network in place. The best shot for ESPN to be able to recoup cost of network is to add bodies. That means Connecticut with the 30th largest DMA in the Hartford/New Haven Market.

Jim@aol.com
When you add the million +/- residents who are counted as part of the NYC DMA UConn brings the equivalent of a top 20 DMA. It is the best G5 pick up available.

Jim@aol.com

ACC considering Temple as UConn's partner. Temple doesn't own the Philly market, but it does reside there. That should be enough for ACCN to get slight increase in fee for access to the network.

Jim@aol.com
The idea is that subscription can be low and still be worthwhile since market # of households in Philly.

Jim@aol.com

In contrast, an internal ACC study shows Connecticut residents will pay big $$$ for access to UConn games.

Where the hell did that come from? I know our pet theory has been that any indication that UConn may get an invite elsewhere could cause the ACC to act, but wouldn't be weird if true? There were definitely reports when they chose UL that "UConn would always be there but the Big 12 wanted Louisville" was part of the rationale.

No. It's a good theory, and UConn + Temple make sense geographically. UConn walks into the conference as a perfect fit, Temple a little less so but 1) they have a huge enrollment & alumni base for a catholic school; and 2) we saw what 1 good football season could do for their profile/attendance.

This theory came about because it makes sense, and has been repeatedly dismissed b/c what the ACC does never makes sense. Perhaps the times are a changin'.

FWIW I work in sports media and am beating all the bushes right now.

EDIT: Weird error re: Temple on my part!

OMG. Which one of you broke into the Courant's computer system and wrote a column pretending to be Jacobs? And if they haven't shut you out of the system yet, would someone on behalf of Dez write a mea culpa for his support for Coach P and his crew?

I wonder if the real reason behind the big beat writer shakeup at the Courant was to get Dez off UConn football without it looking like he was being singled out. UConn fans were sick of him and the feeling was probably mutual.

Temple is a "state related" public school you know...not Catholic. It's kind of like Pitt in that regard. Was founded by a Baptist.

I... didn't know that. For some reason I'd always thought it was a catholic school and never really bothered to check. I guess b/c 3 of the other Big 5 are catholic schools? That is a weird oversight on my part.

Anyway, that makes them an even better fit for the ACC.
