Who the B-12? That is who I was referring to as having their eyes on TallahasseeNFW, they'd want some academic credibility.

Agreed to a point, except Boren has already boxed himself into a corner by proclaiming that it's all 3 things or nothing. It's gonna be tough to back off that statement, and he doesn't seem like the type to back off a position.
Of course; why would they bring themselves down with remediary Free Shoes?Who the B-12? That is who I was referring to as having their eyes on Tallahassee
Lol.
Bidding war for UConn? What part of the New York market will the SEC have?
Vandy's massive Gotham alumni frontWhat part of the New York market will the SEC have?
Until UConn attains AAU status the B1G IMHO will be out of the conversation.
My point is that the Big Ten saddled themselves with the arbitrary rule that any invite must also be AAU. The Big Ten was formed to make athletic scheduling easier. No other organization is enforcing the AAU criteria on the Big Ten, nor could they care much less, least of all an academic association. If selling content to the NYC DMA is sooooo important and UConn is the final access point to it, the Big Ten should be able to find a way around their own arbitrary rules. After all, they invited a school who they knew ouster from the AAU was imminent. If not, they can only blame themselves if they lose out.I'd say that's a solid no. Not only do the B1G make up only a small percentage of those schools, the majority of the schools are academics first and could give two sh!ts about the B1G's athletic aspirations. Plus even if they do decide to vote for new members, they aren't going to "skip" over more viable candidates to choose who the B1G wants.
Well then he's a good public liar. Are you taking the stance that if offered a spot in the B-12 that UConn should say thanks but we are gonna wait for a B1G offer that is probably a HUGE pipe dream?AAU Membership is simply a cover story to appease the academics of The B1G. Delany is a businessman, and college sports are a billion dollar business. He is going to make decisions that make the conference money. Everybody knows that if ND wanted all in tomorrow, he would be in South Bend on Friday hosting a press conference. ND will never be a member of The AAU, so therefore the necessity for this classification is a myth.
If I may, I've never read anyone even hinting at that. Step 1: Get a P-5 conference Invite. Step 2: Accept. Step 3: Continue academic and athletic growth to improve P-5 profile.Well then he's a good public liar. If AAU status is a requirement for entry, they have the wrong side of Comm. Ave: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_of_American_Universities#Membership
lol are they just gonna pack up and leave? the day someone voluntarily leaves the Big 10 I'll run around in circles for an hour.
The B1G also has no religiously-affiliated schools, so BC as a Jesuit school would be a bit of a cultural sore thumb. ND, of course, would be a welcomed exception to this norm if they were interested. This B1G stuff smells like a lot of rumor-mongering to create more Twitter interest/followers in light of the legitimate smoke coming from the B12 that's driving up their tweet views.
yeah i saw that but seems that affiliation has been null for a whileNorthwestern was originally affiliated with United Methodist Church, FWIW.

Bowlsby and rest of #Big12, especially #UT, doesn't want anyone know they caved in to Boren's demands...but they did, thankfully!!
GregSwai mShow@GSwai m
If you really want to know what got #UT's attention to finally ok #Big12 changes, it was #SEC talking to Boren about the #Sooners.
ME: This I might buy, being that OU would have trouble joining the B10 if AAU is still a concern.

Someone needs to do an FOIA request at UNC. Just saying. #bigtenexpansion

@AndrewWamugi it will be more than that but UNC will be the first domino to fall and the one doing most of the talking(along with Duke)
MH ver3 @MH ver3 1h1 hour ago
But Duke is a private university and would be a lot harder to glean information from

@MH ver3 I'll take all three plus Georgia Tech, BC, and Notre Dame for a 20-team league.

@MH ver3 love me our big ten network and soon to be renegotiated tv deal. It's going to blow SEC and Pac 12 deals out of the water #B1G!

@AndrewWamugi rumors are upwards of $50 million per year total per school could be more

@MH ver3 is the BIG10 looking to expand? Who else are you hearing?
ME: What would the SEC offer for those schools?
Uconn in the Big 12 is cr rule #1....And yet Rule #1 is screaming in the back of my mind. If CR has taught me anything, it's to expect the unexpected.
