ND recruits Cincy football heavily. Doubt they want Cincy in the same conference.
Yep but they have a lot of New York, NJ and New England alumni. More NYC/NE games have to be viewed as a plus for ND.

First, I still don't think ND is anywhere close to joining a conference. But...

There is no question ND would go to bat for UConn over Cincinnati. Much like the B1G, ND wants to keep its large northeastern alumni happy. They have a good partnership with Boston College for their Boston alumni. But like Rutgers and the B1G, BC doesn't deliver the entire northeast for ND alumni.

UConn and ND have played against each other in football, basketball and, now, hockey. We have hockey games scheduled in NYC for both alumni bases. We've played hoops games each other in MSG. And if we had anywhere close to a competent AD at the helm, we could be talking about the 3rd or 4th meeting against them at Yankee Stadium/Met Life this season.

Cincinnati does not give ND what they want: the northeast. It's a no-brainer who ND would advocate for should they ever join the ACC full-time.

If the ACC agrees to that...the countdown clock for implosion is on for them.

History says you are right; but, all the ACC has to do is to stay together long enough for the XII to implode as I cannot see under any circumstance in the foreseeable future that there would be less that 4 power conferences.

@Smith_C12 If...IF...ND finally becomes 15th member of ACC...I believe ND will have a heavy hand in selecting 16...part of negotiations.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 58m58 minutes ago
@Smith_C12 Who would ND want? Who would ND go to bat for?
Navy?...yep...but that's not happening...nope.
Texas?.....UT not available..yet.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 56m56 minutes ago
@Smith_C12 CINCY or UCONN?....huuuummm....it doesn't ring out yes to me. But both are available....both have valid arguments to make

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 55m55 minutes ago
@Smith_C12 Who would ND want between CINCY or UCONN?
Who would ESPN/ACCN want between the 2?
I have no info nor opinion as of yet.

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 54m54 minutes ago
@Smith_C12 But you are correct...If ND becomes 15...someone becomes 16 in ACC....and when Dereg passes in Jan..could be 17&18...in ACC

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 47m47 minutes ago
Actually the most interesting part of @dennisdoddcbs new article is his bold prediction of a ACCN coming SOON. If true...IF true..

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 46m46 minutes ago
....lines up perfectly to what BTM told us in April & June...ESPN will not let their ACC schools/content become vulnerable...to a raid

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 45m45 minutes ago
truth is...OU/KU are the most attainable/valuable schools for expansion from existing P5...this info I tweeted out in April caused meltdown

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 44m44 minutes ago
And again..let me repeat...OU/KU not attainable now. Unless UT bolts first...
But the point is..PACN getting > distribution with DIRECTV...

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 42m42 minutes ago
...and if...IF ACC is able to have Disney build the ACCN...Big 12 most valuable assets have lots of campaign gifts/packages coming their way

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 37m37 minutes ago
Remember
"perfect world for Texas (described...my Big 12 guy), they would want to join the ACC as full members with wait for it Notre Dame"

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 36m36 minutes ago
My last tweet was a quote from @frankthetank111
Now combined it with @dennisdoddcbs article today on Bold Preductions #25.
interesting

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 30m30 minutes ago
Actually UCONN & CINCY both ring yes to me...at this point don't know who rings the ACC bell louder.
But yes..combo with ND...both work

Greg Flugaur ‏@flugempire · 18m18 minutes ago
@ScottBonz I don't see YET...ND having the vital relationship with UCONN to go to bat for them.
But I could've wrong in my assumptions

Don't let them know I actually tweet at these guys.

...and UConn and ND are arguably the two top programs in WCBB.

On the list of schools that jerk around other conferences, Notre Dame is #1, but Texas is not far behind at #2. Notre Dame is not budging an inch, because an 8 team playoff is coming, and when it does, there will not be a single reason for ND to join a league. UConn and Cincinnati joining the ACC together after ND walks out the door is more likely than ND joining with either as a full time member. And I don't think any of those scenarios will ever happen..

I wanted to congratulate Temple on beating the large PA school from the B1G. But that is not a good thing for UCONN. No one talks about Temple but if anyone is looking for the next big kick in the nutsack, it could be Temple getting an invite from the ACC. Yeah, it is crazy but not too crazy for CR. UCONN just squeaked by Nova but this very large school from Philly just beat the big school from the B1G. Go figure.

Well if you really want to congratulate temple may I suggest you drop by their fansite? We are UConn fans here, so here your post just comes off as, well, kind of deek-ish.

deek-ish? wtf? If you are a UCONN fan, then you should be more concerned about UCONN's sentence in the AAC than about the deek-ish-ness of my post.

Watching that game yesterday..with the way PSU's OL played I'm not sure they would have beaten Nova. Temple played a good game and looks to have a good team but PSU's OL was beyond horrible. They made me think I was watching a DeLeone coached UCONN line.

& Brock Huard was throwing out DeLeone quotes like they were candy to a parade crowd.

Good lord.

Temple beating Penn State is completely meaningless.

Marshall beat a B1G school today in football. I'm expecting an announcement of the Thundering Herd network by tomorrow afternoon.

I think people on this board are just plain losing it. UCONN is shut out, period. A struggling football program in a G5 conference lucky enough to beat a villanova team. And Temple's win is meaningless? Good Lord is right.

Yes, Temple's win is meaningless.

Utterly, completely and entirely meaningless.

I mean we've beaten Notre Dame, South Carolina, Baylor, Virginia, Louisville etc.

Those types of wins don't mean much when it comes to conference realignment. Cripes, Boise would be in if it did.

Relax guys. I'm not saying Temple will get an invite on the basis if an utterly, completely, entirely meaningless huge win, but UCONN isn't either. Despite the thousands of theories and machinations posted on this site.

Temple's win is good for the AAC. So is BYU's, for the G5. It reminds people what college athletics would lose if a P5 breakaway diminishes competition.

But as far as affecting which universities are attractive to add, it doesn't matter. Rutgers is still more valuable than Temple no matter how many wins Temple gets or losses and scandals Rutgers generates.

This is why I watch NCAAF - for the upsets - for the surprises - because a sport with 100+ teams creates a lot of mystery. If the P5 narrows itself down to a [60] team a lot of magic will be lost.
