Hopefully, Dave Benedict is on the phone with ACC too. What if the ACC countered with immediate full share and immediate membership for football versus the big 12 "we will ease you in" approach?
Lot of folks with very short memories in that thread. UConn beat Syracuse 6 out of 7 times starting in 2005 and ending in coach P's first year. Thank you Jeff Hathaway for killing all of that momentum.post #2,326
"They bring a state with money and 3.4million people obsessed with UConn and would pay for a streaming service to watch. Big 12 with UConn, Arizona, Kansas, Houston and Baylor is by far the best conference in college basketball.
"And it would be great for our fans to have a rivalry game we actually care about every year.
"You guys are really short sighted about UConn. The Big 12 is positioned to be the 3rd conference standing and we better hope to get a lifeline. If/When the ACC falls apart and we see UConn safely in the Big 12 and Rutgers safely in the Big 10 and then we’ll be here lamenting where it all went wrong.
"UConn should be in the ACC, and at the very least our admin should publicly and loudly advocate for them to be in the ACC so we might have a friendly advocate for us if we need a life raft.
"Edit: their football is also only irrelevant because it’s not in a major conference. If the ACC blows up, our football will be just as irrelevant. UConn in the big 12 means it’s not irrelevant anymore."

FSU vs The ACC
If that ever happens...time to strip tax exempt status from universities since it appears they want to run AAA teams for the NFL and NBA. What will probably happen, to avoid that exact proposal, is private ownership groups (hello, private equity firms!) would actually own the teams and would...syracusefan.com
BC has to be kicked and I'll take the offer, maybe lolWhat if the ACC countered with immediate full share and immediate membership for football versus the big 12 "we will ease you in" approach?
A new slogan?BC has to be kicked and I'll take the offer, maybe lol
a serious answer, I think the conference is a ship ready to sink, the Big 12 I feel like is going to be okay because no one outside of Kansas is a thought in realignment talks, Big 12 teams don't add enough to provide the SEC and Big 10 value, the ACC has 5 very valuable brands (FSU, Clem, UNC, Miami, ND) and 2 maybe 3 that'd be great pairings (Duke, UVA, maybe VT)
none of these people really know the history of the program it's annoying that we even get compared to Vanderbilt, same conference with Kansas State, Iowa State, and Kansas who were insanely uncompetitive in football until they started really investing in it and most importantly made a great coaching hire, I feel like a lot of people don't understand the importance of a great coach, Vanderbilt won 9 games back to back years with James Franklin if it can be done there it can certainly be done at Connecticut. This idea that UConn would be content to pull a Vandy and go 0-12 every year in football is patently offensive. UConn had very competitive football until the Big East got blown up. The program hit a rough patch is all. If we didn't care about football, we wouldn't be trying to bring our football program into a power conference. Yeesh.
It’s bizarre to think that a conference’s greatest strength could actually be the lack of value of its individual members. Yet in 2024 that’s exactly the case. If UConn gets the chance to join they should do so immediately. It might not be the prettiest ship in the fleet but it’s not taking on any water.A new slogan?
The Big 12 Conference:
We've got nowhere else to go!
MHVer is a clown. Guy has been posting fake conf realignment stuff for 15 yearsI call BS on this. Houston averaged 25K the year before joining the B12 and 36K in year 1.

Interesting listen ... somewhat approval I guess? How are they so off about our Athletic brand as a whole?
Listen to Frank the Tank. He is the realignment guru
