Minimally, Nils’ father Sebastian was also born in Berlin. His father, currently coaching in Poland, also has Polish citizenship (easy process now for people with Polish born parents or grandparents).

Fair chance in Nils’ and Sebastian’s shared nation of birth, Deutschland, their Polish surname pronunciation may be a bit Germanized.

Obviously, there is a factor (interfering) with a decision. Speculation is useless. Expect another shooter to surface soon - or a decision. Hurley and staff are very smart - and I’m sure this may have been anticipated - and planned for. From 30,000 feet… UCONN or woof-food seems like quite the disparity.
