Nils Machowski visiting today

I get that scoring is always the headline, but I haven’t really seen us linked to anyone in the portal yet who can consistently break a defender down one-on-one (other than Wilkins) and get into the lane. It’d be nice to add a more athletic, downhill type, someone who can create off the dribble and open things up for everyone else.
Nothing against a catch and shoot guy like Nils, there’s definitely value in that but based on the little bit I’ve seen, he looks more methodical than explosive. Could be totally off there, just going off limited clips that I have seen

Great write-up by Storrs Central. Nil’s looks like exactly what we need off the bench for a 2G. Can he also swing over to PG for a few minutes a game in case we need to go 3 deep or if County is not ready? If this works out for us, this could be a key pickup for next year.

We all know this is the guy. High percentage 3 ball shooter with a well-rounded game. 4th year player, solid skills at the point, sees the floor, good passer. A one year fill in for Solo and some added depth/ insurance in the backcourt as well.

Leaves a spot open for the '27/28' season for Hurley and staff to work their recruiting magic and get another top guard in here. Along with Mullins and Demary most likely moving on that will be 3 big spots to fill.

Anyone have comments on Nils Machowski's defense?

This is exactly the type of guy I was hoping we'd pursue. Has played and started games in the B12, can clearly shoot it (90+ 3's last year), can fill it up (five games of 25+ last year - don't care who it's against), and has played enough games that you can assume he won't wilt against the pressure. If you watch film of international play, he did play some PG, so hopefully he's your third-string PG in addition to being a Joey C type off the bench.

If he's coming to campus, don't see how Hurley doesn't lock him in. I welcome the future Husky!

His off ball movement in the first clip of that highlight shows why he will be a great fit for our offense. Showed a really quick release on some of those shots too. Hope we lock this guy up

As his ceiling could have a Joey C kind of impact (which is good)....or am I wrong?

With the Machowski defense the standard opening is knight to C3.

I agree with you. I'm hoping that the staff views Silas, County, Soph Braylon, Jayden, and Landrew as guys who can get downhill. We literally had no one, like nobody (with Silas at like 60%), in the tourney who could consistently take someone off the dribble and create, and were relegated to jumpshooting and Tarris. I'm banking on the returnees stepping up that aspect of their game.

We must be the highest profile team going after him, so I’d be shocked if we don’t get him. I just really hope he’s not AM 2.0.

We need a solid backup for Silas. Imagine how this season would have spiraled if we didn’t have Mali.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is UConn now 3-for-3 with transfer additions once they officially visit? If so, that's just lethal precision.

I love how Hurley and his staff don't have a wide net, but when they focus in, they snipe.
Seems like we don’t even waste time bringing guys in for an “exploratory” visit. I wouldn’t be surprised if these guys verbal before and the visit is a formality lol. The zoom call with the staff probably gives everyone all the info they need to make a decision
