Ngongba Visiting October 13th (First Night)

We think Ngongba loved his visit here, feels connected to the program with his cousin, etc. He is at the evil empire, but all the posts I read here seem to assume its us or Duke. When did his close relationship with the Kansas St staff disappear from the equation? Is that just assumed?

Kansas State is still a threat from all I have heard on this board. I think it's just Duke chatter because he's on their campus now. No big conspiracy.

Never really been out that way.. but I don’t see how a place like Kansas is attractive at all to a young kid

Not even Kansas. Kansas State. If he chooses them over us then he’ll be playing in China in 4 years.
Unless it’s to get substantially more money up front, it would be a strange choice. But it’s his choice to make whatever decision he wants.

Then maybe you should go. There’s certainly more going on in Manhattan, KS than in Storrs, CT and way more going on in Lawrence, KS than either place. That said, K-State certainly doesn’t normally get recruits like him.

Hope he chooses UConn and if not, K-State rather than Duke.

A few factors people seem to neglect about Kansas State. One of their assistants is a family friend and has known Patrick since he was a child. As a result of this relationship Kansas State was on him well before everyone else and before he really blew up. I agree that us or one of his other options would be more advantageous, but if he chooses Kansas State it’s not that outlandish a decision.

I heard Tang and his mom grew up on the same island which could mean a lot. Also Tang seems like an honest trust worthy guy and a good coach. Me personally I would tell mommy, I respectfully decline lol.

Gotta think we aren't. Scheduled 5 OVs and didn't include UConn.
If he waits to sign until the spring maybe UConn gets a shot. But if he's signing in the fall then it doesn't sound good for the Huskies. But none of us know what's going on behind the scenes. Recruiting being fluid and all. Watch him announce this week that he's scheduling an official visit to UConn. :)

Kimani was at LuHi recently to watch VJ and some of his teammates.

Not sure where VJ is at in his recruitment other than he canceled his Michigan visit recently and there's talk on Twitter that if Rick Pitino is able to sway Ian Jackson from UNC, maybe St. Johns could get a commitment from VJ.

Edgecombe may have been in the building and I'm sure we're not shutting that door, but we were more likely on campus for other recruits. Jacob Ross for one.

I remember reading somewhere that we were there to see Dylan and Kayden Mingo.

It would be amazing if shortly after his Duke visit with Flagg it comes out that Edgecombe is planning an official to UConn.

Pitino's been trying to do that since he took the job in the spring and Jackson keeps spurning him. Considering we're now a few weeks away from the early signing period and nothing has changed, that would be a monumental turn of events if Jackson decommits from UNC and commits to St. John's. But it is recruiting so one never knows.
