The problem is that Flagg had a basketball tournament the same weekend as our First Night. Otherwise I'm sure we would have tried to get him on campus with Ngongba

I heard he is only going so cooper and him can spend some time together discussing room decorations, furniture etc for their dorm room at uconn

Yea not too much thought goes into first night. This was probably my last first night haha. Hurley clearly doesn’t enjoy it

Exactly. It was way more personal than the casual glitz show. I think having Flagg on thr visit without other recruits showed him more attention .

I agree. First Night is a party. Hurley wants to show recruits how hard the team works and that's the kind of players he wants. If that doesn't appeal to you then you're probably not a good fit for UConn. Hurley does seem to do a good job of identifying the kind of players he wants, no matter their recruiting ranking. He's all about the culture.

First Nights that are preceded by national championship ring ceremonies, however, are super cool & I’m strongly in favor of recruits seeing that. I’m sure for Ngongba that was fun to witness & be a part of.

Dream scenario is that this weekend goes so well he commits to the staff but they tell him to go take that Duke visit next weekend before announcing so he can bring Cooper back to Storrs with him.

From interviews, he doesn't seem like the kind of kid to really care about those events. Lives, eats and breathes basketball. Almost like he'd be balling somewhere even if he hadn't happened to get good enough that 10,000+ people are willing to watch him play.

I would think he (and especially his parents) would be more interested in competitiveness and development in practices.
