Ngongba Cuts UCONN

My only issue with the announcement is most recruits will have a final 6 or 7 and then pick one but to announce that UConn was cut early for no apparent reason ( he could have left it at a final 4) right after visiting for first night seemed spiteful / intentionally disrespectful. Wasn't the classiest way to handle it. JMHO

Josh and his dad did not leave on the best of terms with JC. Dad called JC a mumu which is considered derogatory. Josh made some comments that he didn’t get the same support at UConn that he was getting at his transfer school. Definitely intended as a dig against JC.

Maybe @mauconnfan can weigh in on this.

You might want to remove him from your support list and add him to your hate list if this is your current construct.

As far as I’m concerned stuff like this no longer bothers me. I focus on the five NCs and everything else becomes irrelevant.
Thank you sir I will make the change. I vaguely remember this and had forgotten it. I will do better. I will now hate Josh Carlton and Alex O for good measure. Alex was already on my list

Not Josh. Definitely Alex. Brain farx.

I can. Whatever reason he has I don’t really care. I’ll root against him the rest of his career. I hope he ends up in last place on a Turkish league team without a degree. The only players I wish well who aren’t on the team are former players who transferred due on good terms (Brendan Adam’s, Carlton etc.) or CT players that didn’t get recruited by UConn. I used to still root for all CT guys but not anymore.
Yup, dead to me.

Best to keep me out of this one not a fan. It’s Alex not Josh and I hardly consider him a NC champion Husky.

Word is Duke. Which makes this one especially more interesting.

K - State would be more tolerable because of the family connection, but with Dan Hurley attitude following the Duke visit, something definitely happened.

He will get lost in the shuffle at duke especially because he is behind offensively.

It makes sense. They have an absolutely loaded roster that needs just one thing, a center. They have nobody at center. He's clearly the starter. It's a great situation and I can't blame him for making that decision.

I know people get all juiced up about Trilly on here, but I really don't like what he's doing. Let the kids have their moment. Fans can wait a few extra days.
It's interesting. It takes away some of the surprise of the announcement, for sure, but there's a phenomenon that's been studied about movie/tv show spoilers. Knowing a spoiler first and then watching on average leads to higher enjoyment ratings than just watching the work unspoiled. Humans are weird.

I would imagine that for teams who are going to get the recruit, the actual announcement will be much more enjoyable for the fans if they know in advance he's coming. He'll probably get fewer views on the announcement with less rival fans, but it'll go from tense to jubilant for some.

This is super interesting (and kind of surprising), but I'm also not really concerned with fan experience until the kid winds up on campus. If it was the NBA, I'm all for spoiling the announcement. But if the kids want their moment with a surprise let them have it.

What Trilly's doing is super disrespectful and reeks of a fragile, sad ego to me.

Jeez Duke's 2024 class may have more five stars than UConn has ever had.
That class will definitely have size. Currently, it's four "small forwards" and then add Pat to the mix.

I think Cooper will be a 4, but still, it's overloaded at forward. Would not be surprised if we see a decommit from one of the two 5 star SFs. This is what they got in 2023. They might all be back. Duke 2023 Basketball Commits

I just don't understand what sold him on Duke over UConn if player development is important to him and his camp. Duke doesn't even come close to being elite in developing bigs . If he didn't pick KState because of the family connection I would've figured UConn was a no brainer because of the great tack record Dan Hurley and staff have with player development. Would love to know what happened behind the scenes here for UConn to not even make his final 3.

For these guys, the Duke corniness is a feature not a bug. Flagg always wanted to be a Dukie and Pat probably did too. We did our best but if somebody thinks holding a plastic baby in a sea of dorks is cool, what can you do about it?

I don't have an answer to the question of why we didn't make the top-3 but it probably doesn't matter because he's got a top-1.
