Ngongba Cuts UCONN

Some guys are not right for UConn, especially guys that are a little too comfortable with their own hype and don’t want to work. You got have a certain mentality to want to play extended intense man to man for basically all game. Hurley will get what he needs or mold somebody into what he needs.

.-.
You're talking out of your butt.
Can Betsey really say he has a better chance at winning a championship at Cincinnati rather than UConn though? I think for some it’s important and others could care less.

Most high level athletes have a very large ego and large perception of their ability. Betsey probably believes he’s good enough to win a championship anywhere

Don’t disagree with your assessment though I’d take that action lol

With Betsey and this guy it’s family connections or whatever. With Flagg his entire family was dipped in Blue Devil blood. We just didn’t know it at the time.

There are certain instances where you have to battle too much even if you’re coming off a natty. Just go hard at the Portal if need be. Those kids know what we are about and the success we’ve had with portal players.

who cares - theres always someone who is a better fit out there
flagg is a one off
this kid - meh

Cmon, Hurley wants the guys he recruits. He must think they fit. He doesn’t just throw offers out there.

I'm really not. If iam why so much players leave after their first or second year. And now we have players skipping college to the G league or overseas to make money rather than playing in or going to college Not talking for all players but most. Lets say Cooper Flagg commits to Duke or even Uconn and they dont win a CHIP, guarantee he leaves for the NBA as he said he's already going pro after 1 year of college. Your either too old or too young to really know what these kids want more and that's to provide for family and never have to worry about struggling.

Of course he does. But a fit is a two-way street. I don’t think it takes long for prospects to figure out they will be going through a pretty intense program.

Not the point. The comment implied the kid wasn’t a UConn type. Hurley thought he was. Just because a kid goes elsewhere doesn’t mean Hurley was mistaken. Did Hurley withdraw the offer after the kid visited?

Dan might have told him that, with Johnson and Singare returning, he would have to earn his minutes while others made him a guarantee; but, as a boss I once had told me, "They promise you the world with a fence around it but you'll always end up with pickets up your aas.". Let's just say she wasn't an optimist.

I suppose that’s possible. I suppose that never came up before his official visit:rolleyes:People seem
to need to find a reason to assign negatives to kids who decide to go elsewhere. There seem to be some people who never recruited and interviewed people for a position. You kind of know when you are wasting your time. The kid is likely to know that at Duke, for instance, he will have players in front of him and i’d guess he was not promised big minutes. Maybe he secretly hates his cousin.

Players really dont care about winning a National Championship anymore.

"some" of a "a few" =/= all.

We have two recruits slated to come to Storrs and a number of others who have expressed that the chip impacted their feelings about UConn.

There are so many silly assumptions in this and every recruiting thread about things nobody has any inside information on. My kids had very good academic choices of colleges and 2 of the 3 were attracted to schools that were good but wouldn’t be my first choice. 17 is an interesting age.

My daughter went on 4 OVs her HS senior year and I did not agree with her final choice. She wanted to be with friends and I still wish she had chosen UConn (almost committed on Tuesday after she returned home from Storrs--my mistake I didn't answer the phone). But despite her choice, I am a proud father that she got a degree and a job out of school.

Like previously mentioned, Teenagers make some crazy decisions that make no sense at the time. Priorities are quite confusing.

This Flagg episode can only be 100% help to UConn as future recruits constantly saw our name and now they'll look deeper into our program. We've got to trust Hurley and his people when it comes to recruiting.

GO HURLEY !!!

Nah you really are talking out of your butt.

Let’s put this in perspective. Did you go to college? Did you graduate ? Did you then move on to a career?

Why did you do that? Why didn’t you stay for your PhD? If on the outside chance you did, why didn’t you stay for your double phd with the highest honors?

Just because someone is a one and done doesn’t mean they don’t want to achieve the best while they are there.

Wrong you must don't know the game in today's world. Everything is all about the money. Kids know if they have a good shot at winning it all but the most important part is getting to the next level

Went to college didn't graduate but I know when I was playing I tried my best to win but deep down inside I knew their was other teams much better than ours and my goal was to get scoutrd to go overseas, which happened in 3003. I'm not saying the, don't want the best but what is more important to most I'll say it again most players want that NBA money. Question? How many kids today that had the chance to skip college and go pro? Cooper is 1 of those guys meaning college is 2nd in their heads.

You said kids only care about getting to the NBA. Most important =/= ONLY. A kid can care about the NBA and also winning in college.

Yes, a lot of kids want to make the NBA. If you asked their dream, they'd probably tell you that before winning an NCAA championship. Why is that a bad thing? The NBA is the ultimate achievement in basketball.

Winning a championship and getting the high-level coaching to make the NBA are also not mutually exclusive concepts. Our players winning a championship and being developed by a great, championship caliber coach has drastically increased their professional prospects.

What a misguided idiot.

Ahhhh, well.
