Everyone wants basketball, which is absolutely hurt by going to pac-12. Just doesn't make sense.Because Notre Dame is Notre Dame and there is only one.

are you on dope? For all the hate on the PAC12, one of their schools is about to poach Jim Mora…
I don’t remember anyone on this board pushing for anything other than football-only. And I thought football-only was the focus of the reported talks between UConn & the PAC.Everyone wants basketball, which is absolutely hurt by going to pac-12. Just doesn't make sense.

It wouldn't surprise me if they offered us a football only deal, but I think you've got the "horrendous terms" part correct. The PAC wanted us for all sports, and probably offered us horrendous terms, because OSU and WSU aren’t offering anyone good terms other than themselves.

+1....As a bunch of us having been saying all along, there's a reason Uconn turned down any PAC 12 talk as FB only awhile back. Sounds like some of their new members have received the not so glowing report on their TV/media deal. "A little lean" but better than $4mil ??? ....( report is it'll be great exposure though, I think I've heard that one before, LOL!)The new Pac12 is absolute garbage and there’s zero reason for us to want anything to do with them. The only way they can improve that conference is by moving it further west until it drowns offshore.
The idea that we would somehow be able to enhance recruiting by playing in the Pac12 is just so far on the wrong side of stupid. There isn’t a recruitable football player in this solar system who will spend even one second thinking about the Pac12 conference title.
It was insane that people thought this conference was actually going to be appealing to the media. The actual Pac12 only got offered a very conditional $20M per by Apple and people thought this collection of Mountain West scrapple was going to pull $10-15M?
It’s not a good conference. The American is orbits better.
It says the CW will carry their games... their games might be on tape delay for a Charmed marathon, but dont worry.... they are a major player in college footballIt’s obvious that the PAC12 is banking on being the auto-G5 representative in the CFP but I’m not so sure that’s a guarantee.
It's effectively a championship game that is controlled by the conference rather than strictly performance based. I would think the majority of the time it would be whoever is 1 and 2 in the conference but if 1 is clearly the best and 2 is not good and can only play spoiler but is good for an upset, they would drop the opponent down -- especially if that team is already in pole position for a CFP spot.Is this a joke?
So let's say for arguments sake SDSU and Boise St are the two best programs playing each other in Week 12. Maybe the conference would want to see the 2 best teams face off again the next week 13, or it would want to see the top 2 programs beat the bottom 2 programs again. They the top 2 meat again in the championship game! Let's have SDSU and Boise St play each other 3 times in the same season!
So there will be basically a roulette in-season rematch before the conference game, that's the flex?! How unbrilliant! Great job newPac, that'll get arses in seats.Have you heard the news coming through the grapevine
FletchFlex is working overtime
They would be better served running a semifinal and then conference championship game (with the other 4 teams playing 5 v 8 and 6 v 7 for "bragging" rights during semifinal week). It's effectively a championship game that is controlled by the conference rather than strictly performance based. I would think the majority of the time it would be whoever is 1 and 2 in the conference but if 1 is clearly the best and 2 is not good and can only play spoiler but is good for an upset, they would drop the opponent down -- especially if that team is already in pole position for a CFP spot.
the graphic said Nov 28 Week 13 Flex and Championship game Dec 4 but no championship game makes more sense. Sounds like the top 2 teams won't play in Week 13 but rather in the Championship game, and I don't know why I am wasting so much time on this!!!They don’t have enough members to hold a conference championship- hence, this will suffice for now.
i think they'll find a way to have 1 play 8 if the number 1 team is 5th in the countryIt's effectively a championship game that is controlled by the conference rather than strictly performance based. I would think the majority of the time it would be whoever is 1 and 2 in the conference but if 1 is clearly the best and 2 is not good and can only play spoiler but is good for an upset, they would drop the opponent down -- especially if that team is already in pole position for a CFP spot.
so the former head coach will get in the championship game through the backdoori think they'll find a way to have 1 play 8 if the number 1 team is 5th in the country
Yes, it would. The alternative is telling a recruit, “hey we have lots of games, most close to home, but we aren’t playing for anything. No conference standings, no conference championship, but hey, if we go undefeated for 2 or 3 years we may be considered for the playoff…”
I get that right now being independent works…but we need to be in a conference before too long…
But this is the existential threat, right? What is anyone playing for outside those 12 CFP spots? There are over 130 teams. Now that many teams and players skip bowl games, what are they playing for anywhere? Independent status is fine as long as you can schedule, and we've been getting great schedules.
