It wouldn't surprise me if they offered us a football only deal, but I think you've got the "horrendous terms" part correct.

+1....As a bunch of us having been saying all along, there's a reason Uconn turned down any PAC 12 talk as FB only awhile back. Sounds like some of their new members have received the not so glowing report on their TV/media deal. "A little lean" but better than $4mil ??? ....( report is it'll be great exposure though, I think I've heard that one before, LOL!)

Report also says regarding the PAC 12 bringing in any new members, "they probably won't be able to afford to pay any they've looked at in the past"

 
It was insane that people thought this conference was actually going to be appealing to the media. The actual Pac12 only got offered a very conditional $20M per by Apple and people thought this collection of Mountain West scrapple was going to pull $10-15M?

It’s not a good conference. The American is orbits better.

The departing schools will spend like $15MM each in exit fees, plus losing their cut of the Pac 12 OSU/WSU exit fees, which I think was around $40 million, just so they can make $4/year in the Pac 12? We have seen some dumb stuff in realignment, but this crew just set a new standard of stupidity.
 
I think the PAC is a fine G conference for its State members. It's an extremely tough pill to swallow for Oregon State and Wazzu, going from the P5 to a very mediocre G league. I think SDSU can't be too thrilled either because it was primed for something bigger. It's like everyone is chasing dollars but losing financially and what makes sense from a regional standpoint. It's a tragic comedy before our eyes.
 
It’s obvious that the PAC12 is banking on being the auto-G5 representative in the CFP but I’m not so sure that’s a guarantee.

It says the CW will carry their games... their games might be on tape delay for a Charmed marathon, but dont worry.... they are a major player in college football

So let's say for arguments sake SDSU and Boise St are the two best programs playing each other in Week 12. Maybe the conference would want to see the 2 best teams face off again the next week 13, or it would want to see the top 2 programs beat the bottom 2 programs again. Then the top 2 meet again in the championship game! Let's have SDSU and Boise St play each other 3 times in the same season!

It's effectively a championship game that is controlled by the conference rather than strictly performance based. I would think the majority of the time it would be whoever is 1 and 2 in the conference but if 1 is clearly the best and 2 is not good and can only play spoiler but is good for an upset, they would drop the opponent down -- especially if that team is already in pole position for a CFP spot.

So there will be basically a roulette in-season rematch before the conference game, that's the flex?! How unbrilliant! Great job newPac, that'll get arses in seats.

They would be better served running a semifinal and then conference championship game (with the other 4 teams playing 5 v 8 and 6 v 7 for "bragging" rights during semifinal week).

It's really weird to plan a conference week that does not impact conference standings. We're going to start seeing regular season opt-outs with that kind of thinking.

the graphic said Nov 28 Week 13 Flex and Championship game Dec 4 but no championship game makes more sense. Sounds like the top 2 teams won't play in Week 13 but rather in the Championship game, and I don't know why I am wasting so much time on this!!!

i think they'll find a way to have 1 play 8 if the number 1 team is 5th in the country

Now that many teams and players skip bowl games, what are they playing for anywhere? Independent status is fine as long as you can schedule, and we've been getting great schedules.

But this is the existential threat, right? What is anyone playing for outside those 12 CFP spots? There are over 130 teams.

Every solution seems to produce more stratification.
