With a proper exit structure UConn in the PAC for football only would be significantly better than our current island, no idea if its a possibility.
Would it?With a proper exit structure UConn in the PAC for football only would be significantly better than our current island, no idea if its a possibility.
Yes, it would. The alternative is telling a recruit, “hey we have lots of games, most close to home, but we aren’t playing for anything. No conference standings, no conference championship, but hey, if we go undefeated for 2 or 3 years we may be considered for the playoff…”Would it?
“Dear recruit, we have road trips to Fresno, Pullman WA, Boise, and 90 minutes north of Salt Lake” this year!!
Worst case 2030 will be here fairly soon.Yes, it would. The alternative is telling a recruit, “hey we have lots of games, most close to home, but we aren’t playing for anything. I get that right now being independent works…but we need to be in a conference before too long…
Caught this yesterday from the Big Mountain podcast but here's some new hurdles for the PAC'$ legal team.![]()
Judge denies MWC’s motion to dismiss Pac-12 suit
The Pac-12’s conference realignment lawsuit against the Mountain West will proceed after a federal judge denied all four parts of the Mountain West’s motion to dismiss the case.www.sportsbusinessjournal.com
This seems like it is going to end up in a settlement and the longer it takes to get there, the worse it is for the Mountain West who needs the exit money to keep the promises made to the remaining schoolsCaught this yesterday from the Big Mountain podcast but here's some new hurdles for the PAC'$ legal team.

Mountain West makes new counterclaims in Pac-12 poaching lawsuit
In its boldest, most detailed statement in the ongoing litigation with the Pac-12 Thursday, the Mountain West Conference filed an 86-page response and doled out some new, meaty counterclaims, including breach of contract and promissory fraud.www.sportsbusinessjournal.com
I don't get why they arent like, UConn is joining in 2030 for all sports and we will have a scheduling relationship for football.Worst case 2030 will be here fairly soon.
Because no media partner has agreed to pay for that. In the end, it really is that simple.I don't get why they arent like, UConn is joining in 2030 for all sports and we will have a scheduling relationship for football.
Well, we have been playing quite a few ACC teams with more on the future schedules, so...I don't get why they arent like, UConn is joining in 2030 for all sports and we will have a scheduling relationship for football.
Joining the PAC for Olympic sports? Including bball?? For a football scheduling deal???I don't get why they arent like, UConn is joining in 2030 for all sports and we will have a scheduling relationship for football.
I am thinking acc. Let UConn FB come in in 2030. No to pac-12Joining the PAC for Olympic sports? Including bball?? For a football scheduling deal???
How about the opposite- stay BE for Olympic sports and join the PAC for football only, for a bball scheduling deal, but only if there’s no exit fee.
Agree. Gives me hope something is happening with either Big12 or ACC.While this will likely never be accepted I wonder why UConn hasn’t pitched a “Notre Dame-esque” to the PAC scheduling agreement like ND has with the ACC. Not sure how it would work financially but that would keep the independent status and allow for a much stronger strength of schedule
From the Memphis perspective a NPac move doesn't make sense on many levels. The football conference isn't better and may in fact be worse, Memphis is presently making $11+ million a year in the American, exit fees, other 'moving expenses' both literal and figurative, and 2030 hopes.Honestly, if the money is similar, that might entice us or Memphis both football-only.
That only works if the Big East invites Memphis to join.Honestly, if the money is similar, that might entice us or Memphis both football-only.

I agree. When I wrote "That only works if the Big East invites Memphis to join", I meant that it only works for Memphis if the Big East invites them to join. Memphis would need a place for basketball and their Olympic sports.Memphis is the complete polar opposite to the Big East. No way that ever happens.
No.
No.
Because they’re smarter than you.
Nope.
Huge problem with the math here. First, the American makes more than the P12 will. Second, Memphis would have to pay a significant amount of money to leave the American in order to make less than they would in the P12. Third, and most importantly, the American is and will continue to be a better football conference than the P12.
Five of the top seven G5 teams right now are in the American vs only one of the future P12.
No way. I was thinking acc. Never PacJoining the PAC for Olympic sports? Including bball?? For a football scheduling deal???

You are right, it's not a good fit for us. But I would like to play some of the programs, SDSU, Boise St, Wazzu, Oregon State, Colorado State, Tejas StateThe PAC has a better football deal than The American by far. But they are still locked into a later time zone. That said most of those teams have to be pretty happy with the end result in terms of exposure. And it's unlikely they will see defections in the near future. I don't see much in terms of scheduling that would interest UConn fans. No disrespect but it's not a good match for us.
