New PAC-12 Forming

Independence is not the reason we lost to Cuse and Delaware. It was poor coaching and poor execution.

By this same logic, ND should give up being an independent and join the B10 after starting 0-2 and having nothing else to play for
Player talent factors in as well. A conference is nice because it gives the team something to play for.
We’re never going to win a national championship, but conference championships develops a winning culture. But losing in a conference with no regional or cultural rivals is program crushing (AAC).
I think our best P4 chances would come from scheduling northeast schools only. Syracuse, BC, Rutgers, Penn State, Maryland, etc. Fill the rest with local G5s. Becoming a force in the northeast will help build and retain regional talent.
Becoming the most dominant team in the Northeast becomes the “title”. Increases fan (and local recruit) interest and may boost local TV revenue.
Calhoun started with getting the local talent.

If UConn were being compensated anywhere close to what ND gets then I would agree with you.

They're talking about it over there. I don't think the PAC is in our future but who knows

They don't know what the hell they want. I don't have a Reddit account otherwise I'll tell them we don't have "a half empty stadium in Storrs."

That said, there is one poster who made a ton of sense with:
Yeah let's pretend the teams are taking buses everywhere like it's the 1930s

And let’s pretend UConn (or even Memphis) would join for all sports. No thanks.

NIU, Oregon State, Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, and Little Rock. for wrestling. I think NIU is out of its mind, but those frequent flyer miles should come in handy. Here was the MAC Wrestling standings last year. I guess the MAC wouldn't let NIU wrestling stay?

Would it?

“Dear recruit, we have road trips to Fresno, Pullman WA, Boise, and 90 minutes north of Salt Lake” this year!!
Yes, it would. The alternative is telling a recruit, “hey we have lots of games, most close to home, but we aren’t playing for anything. No conference standings, no conference championship, but hey, if we go undefeated for 2 or 3 years we may be considered for the playoff…”

I get that right now being independent works…but we need to be in a conference before too long…

Worst case 2030 will be here fairly soon.

Caught this yesterday from the Big Mountain podcast but here's some new hurdles for the PAC'$ legal team.

This seems like it is going to end up in a settlement and the longer it takes to get there, the worse it is for the Mountain West who needs the exit money to keep the promises made to the remaining schools

Honestly, if the money is similar, that might entice us or Memphis both football-only.

I don't get why they arent like, UConn is joining in 2030 for all sports and we will have a scheduling relationship for football.
Because no media partner has agreed to pay for that. In the end, it really is that simple.

Well, we have been playing quite a few ACC teams with more on the future schedules, so...
2022 - 3
2023 - 3
2024 - 4*
2025 - 3
2026 - 3
2027 - 4
2028 - 4
2029 - 2
2030 - 2
2031 - 1
hmmm GIF

Joining the PAC for Olympic sports? Including bball?? For a football scheduling deal???

How about the opposite- stay BE for Olympic sports and join the PAC for football only, for a bball scheduling deal, but only if there’s no exit fee.

While this will likely never be accepted I wonder why UConn hasn’t pitched a “Notre Dame-esque” to the PAC scheduling agreement like ND has with the ACC. Not sure how it would work financially but that would keep the independent status and allow for a much stronger strength of schedule.
