We went with the block "C" on the football unis in 2003. It was new and very generic looking, but people got used to it. People will get used to this too. I get the sentimentality about the old Jonathan logo, but this is about branding and sports marketing, and we need a logo that we can use across all UConn sports teams, including football. Especially football, since that's what's driving the bus in conference realignment.

At first I wasn't quite sure, then 3 minutes later I liked it. Now 3 hours later I love it! I already went to the official fan shop to see if they added new merchandise (not yet). I'm also a big fan of the new "UCONN" and I think the rebranding will be a major success. Ten toes in and a few dollars from me.

Make the top of the head white, and I'll be happy.

You are hallucinating. This mascot sucks. It is nothing more than an ill fated attempt by Nike to sell more product. Well guess what? They won't. Giving up the traditional, distinctive, beloved mascot for one that could be the one for a dozen other teams is frankly, idiotic. I for one will never buy a UConn product with that image on it. Typically, I purchase my UConn products with the Husky on it and I buy a lot of them every year. I am just one person, but if you go and read the comments on Facebook there are thousands who feel the same way. What I really want to know is who signed off on this piece of crap, Herbst or Manual? Whoever it is needs to leave now because they don't have clue one. I will work through the Alumni Association and the UConn Club, I belong to both, to put pressure on the fools who made this decision to come to their senses. Even if I'm wrong, and they sell a few more shirts, it won't offset the lost donations. I'm telling you this is going to get a lot of people po'd.

This was my exact progression. And I feel like it was/will be the reaction of most of the fan base.

There was always going to be a loud, ornery, stick up their section of fans who were going to scream bloody murder at whatever was produced, even if Nike just decided our branding should be a topless Kate Upton on all uniforms and university athletic material.

If I can get any merchandise that looks like this with the logo and the UCONN name outlined in red and the grey background the way it looks above, I'm buying the living out of it, even if it means my kids dont eat. this is 1000x better than what we currently have, and I'm usually hard to accept change.

And if people on facebook hate it, that makes me love it anymore. I detest facebook.

Does anyone have anything negative to say about Penfield's all-white husky?

I look at that an I say, "Hot damn! That's not Northeastern's Husky. That's not Washington's Husky. That's the UConn Husky!"

I love it. Start a new thread with it attached and lets keep it pinned at the top of the board so media and administration see it. Simple change that took me from like to love. The all white husky is the only kind of UConn Husky. I was fine with the new logo but this white version is perfect.

I like the blue in the Husky mirrroring the blue in the letters. Don't like the all white as much. Just one man's opinion

so whats the deal, can huskies be all white or no? If so I'm fine with Pen's adjustments. If not, keep it with the grey "mask" as I think Nike described it, above the eyes. Saw some pics in another thread that had an actual husky and it looked pretty similar to the new logo.

I don't like your opinion but I see your point. I just think the all white husky is what makes our husky unique and recognizable. I would go white with the logo and leave the mascot costume as it is.

Huskies can be all white. There is also a coloring with mostly white and some off white. I would like to see the grey version you speak of

The new logo is slowly growing on me as well.
Gotta have the red outline w/ or w/o the text.
Also, I think it needs FANGS in the upper jaw to look even more menacing...

Put me in the camp with the folks who like it better without the red outline.

Can't believe the red outline is the capper for so many people here. There's bound to be a bunch of renditions of this put out, with outlines & without.

I still like the old logo. I don't think we need to look menacing. Art4life, fangs?? The UCONN husky isn't a comic book character. This is "selling out" in my opinion. I love the old logo and I agree with hoophound that it made Uconn distinguishable from the rest. Now we went for a more generic logo that looks like UW or New Mexico. The white logo with the blue outlining of fur made our logo much more detailed than the others. I will even go as far as to say our logo made have helped some of our success. A little bit...I mean I know as a kid I loved the logo, and as silly as it sounds, psycholigically it has a huge effect on the "liking" of a school for many people. I mean Duke and UNC has kept the same logo for how many years?? I think staying with a traditional brand is huge...

You know what, I'm wrong. It was blue, not grey. Not sure why the hell I said grey.
