New logo is already growing on me

And that, my friend, I agree with you on. The sweater vest and bow tie tribe do not contribute nearly the amount to the school that Coke, Webster Bank and Dunkin Donuts do.......

Yes, I meant Nike. People are assuming that because Nike did it that it's automatically awesome and in UCONN's best interest. Nike pumps out hundreds of branding elements a year. They are mass produced.

The reason I am annoyed at the non-white husky os that I have been through the rebranding/logo exercise a couple times. One where the branding company submitted as a final concept a logo that was being used by a regional company in the same field. So, they are not all Rembrandt's.

This husky was a misfire the minute they changed the color. Wolf, non-wolf, husky, samoyed, front view, 3/4 view, and profile view are all subjective choices. As a branding exercise there were only two requirements, white and husky dog.

I suppose it's possible that UConn made a decision to go away from the all-white dog for the logo before Nike submitted their design, or made the decision to OK the non-all white dog. I hope they would have the guts to at least explain the process and the reasoning to the public, I doubt we'll hear anything though.

Except there was a serious flaw with our logo. It wasnt a husky and that needed to be addressed at some point. I always hated the cartoon Samoyed so I guess it's easier for me to accept the new logo than others.

Yes, it sucked. I never once bought any merchandise with that logo, except a couple of national championship t-shirts, where it wasn't primary. It didn't look like a husky, so it poorly represented the UConn Huskies. This one is much more appealing and recognizable. And it doesn't look like its riding in the back seat of a convertible.

Sounds like you agree UConn had a logo that was synonymous with the university. I agree. That's why I don't like the change. It's new coke.

Anytime people dislike a change, they compare it to "New Coke." I'm sorry, but our old Husky logo ain't Classic Coca Cola.

For every "New Coke" there are a ton of successful changes. Apple used the same logo from 1976 to 1998, but nobody wants to go back to that technicolor nightmare for tradition's sake.

I never liked the old logo and I tended to avoid buying stuff with it on there. It always struck me as a tad silly.
