Besides having a great name for UConn she already speaks like an upper-classman. Thanks, VaMike for the video. She sure would fit in. She has that long a sound in her first name.

Sheesh, Alex - don't upset the mojo gods! Holdsclaw, Anosike, Doron ...... We don't lose out on too many New York kids we recruit.
VIDEO of Saniya Chong
I don't see evidence of big hops here (not a big deal) but I do see:
- someone who is extremely comfortable handling the ball with her left hand (she's a righty) on the perimeter, in space, and on drives; not just on short layups from the left side of the basket
- someone who has a very pure jump shot and can really shoot the 3, even from deep (22 ft +)
- someone who's scrappy and has a nose for the basket (she is putting up some huge point totals so no surprise there!)
Not sure what the level of competition has been, but sounds like their coach is going to be upgrading the schedule. Moriah appears more explosive/athletic and more aggressive with the ball, while Saniya looks like she kills you with a more traditional set of moves and outstanding range. I look forward to seeing more vids of this girl to get further impressions of her game.
[edit: On listening more to the rest of the video, the opponent in the video--Archbishop Molloy--is a top 10 team in the NYC area, so that is a big deal]

Neither of them got an offer from UConn.EPrince Bria smith ......
Neither of them got an offer from UConn.
UConn was very interested in Prince but stopped recruiting her after her incident with the law in Brooklyn. I think there was less interest in Bria Smith. In any case since neither got an offer, you can't count them as NY kids UConn "lost".but where both recruited by uconn in the beginning of the HS career will Bria smith was

You can do whatever you like but it defies logic.YOU may not but I can.
....
And there's Barbara and Ketia and Maria and, well, Kennitra ... and doesn't Swin's given have also fit the formula?
- Announcers pronounce her name sah-NYE-ah, which rhymes with Maya. She's another "A" girl, like Tina and Breanna and Diana Asja and Nykesha and Svetlana and Kaleena and Bria and, um, Kiah. ...
Lordy, forgetting Rebecca and Kara!!!You are correct. "Swin" was short for Swintayla, so add her and Rebecca and Kara, but Shea needs to grow another syllable to qualify.
Uconn already had signed Hartley. So Smith didn't get an offer. If Hartley went elsewhere, I'd bet Smith would have gotten an offer.UConn was very interested in Prince but stopped recruiting her after her incident with the law in Brooklyn. umm we are talking about the Boneyard here. When has logic ever been involved? You can do whatever you like but it defies logic.
