NCAA Softball Tournament

Dawgs get an 8-0 5 inning run rule win. No hitter, and it wasn't even Plain on the mound. Pat Moore w/ the honor. Had a perfect game til a 1 out walk in the 5th.

Michigan showed they are legit. Will be interesting to see if they go with Beaubien or Storako in the first game tomorrow.

In other news, Tennessee joined ASU as the only other seeded team to be eliminated so far. #13 Duke is doing their best to avoid that fate in a scoreless battle against Western Kentucky heading into the top of the 12th (!!!!) inning.

UCLA and Oklahoma both survived scares today... It would have been incredible to see one of the top seeds drop a game and have to fight back their way back through the loser's bracket.
I feel so bad for Duke having to go on the road. Frankly, I don't see the point of giving them a seed if they weren't hosting, but it really sucks that they have a seed and are on the road. Move everyone up and give Oregon the seed they should have had instead of making them play 2 Texas-based teams in Texas.

Have my fingers crossed for Oregon tomorrow. Would love to see them throw this back in the committee's face by taking out Texas.

Really nice showing by UW tonight.

Will be at the Arizona-Ole Miss game(s) tomorrow. Can't wait! The Arizona offense really woke up today.

As for ASU, if a Pac-12 team had to look foolish, at least it was the right one.

Georgia-Duke is a crazy back and forth affair. 10-9 UGa thru 6 innings. Both teams have had a lead several times.

Well, Georgia won and advanced. Shameful that a team that wasn't even seeded got to host. Michigan or several other teams should've had that opportunity. If Duke couldn't host, take their seed away. Just dumb.

Florida, Georgia, Virginia Tech and James Madison have advanced to the Super Regionals.

Wichita State was ahead of Oklahoma 4-0 in the first inning but OU used Olivia Rains and Alanna Thiede, not really their best pitchers. Now Oklahoma comes out bombing for an 8 run inning. Wichita State are the clearest examples of Haymakers. Wichita St Haymakers should be their new name.

Elsewhere, in Lexington..... Kentucky has completely flipped the switch after getting thumped in Game 1 against Notre Dame. They get a rematch with Alabama. Would be Game 5, 6, and 7 against them this year.

Kudos to Kentucky for coming back after losing early and taking their Regional.

I see Louisiana won and forced a deciding winner take all game w/ LSU.

Oklahoma starting to really put a hurtin' on Wichita St. 3 run homer just now made it 11-4.

I tuned in just in time to see Stanford boot what should have been a double play and get no outs, as a run came in to score to put Arkansas ahead. Couldn't change the channel fast enough after that.

Sooners can really mash the ball. Another long ball. 14-5 now in the 4th inning.

Will be interesting to see what happens when they start facing the elite pitchers.

My goodness! Wichita St. got a couple more runs so the run rule isn't in effect. 14-7 going into the top of the 7th. It's now 24-7. OU is out for blood. Game got moved to ESPNNews because a MLB game was scheduled to start on ESPN.

Oklahoma, LSU and Arkansas also move on to Super Regionals. And Oklahoma St. earlier in the day.

edit--and Florida St. and Missouri if I forgot them

Oregon-Texas has been a super long weather delay, kinda seems unlikely that game is going to happen today. Was supposed to be 1 pm PST, so about 3 1/2 hours late now.

Didn't get to watch the game, but a tough loss for Duke today at UGA. A historic season nonetheless.

7 SEC / 2 ACC / 2 Bg12 / 1 PAC / 1 oth

still playing: 3 PAC / 1 Bg12 / 1 Bg10 / 1 SEC

UCLA advanced in the minimum number of games required, but they weren't overwhelming. I expected more of them. Still alive though, that's all that matters.

UW off to a much better start against Michigan today. Solo shot in the 1st, now have bases loaded w/ 2 down. They are the visiting team in their own stadium, I just don't get that.

edit--oops, there were 2 on, I got over excited. Weak pop fly foul ball to end the inning. Huskies have stranded so many runners this season, 2 right out of the gate today.

What the hell is Arizona doing? Down 4-0 to Ole Miss and it's only the 2nd inning.

UW up 2-0 now in the 2nd, runner on 3rd. Better not stand another one.

What dont you get? They already get to host. Should they also get to bat last in ALL of their games?

Oregon and Texas are actually playing...after a 5 hour delay.

UW still up 2-0 M5. Stranded runners like crazy, 6 and counting. So dang frustrating.

OMGosh, what's going on with Anna Borgen? She's not been the same since Alabama kicked her ass.

Arizona might not need Game 2 in the end.

Ole Miss melting down and threw the ball out of play. AZ ties it up 6-6 in the 5th

AZ hammering a bunch of pitches that most wouldn't dare to swing at. Impressive.

No way Ole Miss wins now. Arizona crowd likes their Wildcats too much, and that has to be deflating mentally for the Rebels.

Blagh. This is what happens when I root for the Webels.

Trachsel has her work cut out for her after the Mike Smith drama. She just has to get her players in. She did a good job at Minnesota. I'm sure she misses Fiser

I was getting nervous. Michigan had 2 on w/ 1 out and the 2 batters who hit back to back homers off Plain yesterday were due up. UW got out of it with no damage done. I wouldn't mind a few more insurance runs though.
