NBA Draft Combine

There is no way Steph Castle is 6'2.25"
I meant the numbers posted in the tweet in the post I responded to which had Castle at 6'4.5 w/o shoes in the past.

UConn lists players with shoes height (say +1.5 inches). Spencer at 6'3 without shoes is -> 6'4.5 with shoes. Same with Newton at 6'3.25 -> 6'4.75. If Castle is at 6'4.5 -> 6'5.75.

So UConn lists the backcourt as 6'4, 6'5, 6'6. Not terribly off the w/ shoes likely measurements.
Yeah but then they undersold Clingan as he should of been at least 7'3" with shoes and not 7'2".

Combine measurements here:

Karaban under 6'7 without shoes. Might tick his stock down a slight bit.

Actually pretty good wingspan of 6'11" Better than Flipowski who over 4 inches taller than him. Also, the same wingspan as Oso Ighodaro. No wonder Karaban could play and block some centers in the big east.

That I agree with, but Karaban would have been on point also at a UConn 6'8 listing. Clingan may have grown during the year. There were reports he grew over the summer, perhaps they never updated, not sure.

People actually thought Castle was really 6’2?

You can’t underestimate the collective stupidity of the internet. Especially NBA fans judging a college player they never watched and may have never actually seen even in photos.

Even worse, he’s actually been measured at a combine before.

I think he was like almost 6’5” without shoes at some Nike deal.

I was staring at my screen trying to understand what I was seeing. It didn't make any sense.

Baffled it is still on the site as that. Hopefully they change it soon.

I was confused trying to parse that tweet. I think he is saying he measured that in the past, probably before one of the US camps. My guess is that is a bare minimum for his size.

Think those are actually good measurements for Karaban. Puts him at a solid 6'8 for his with shoes measurements.

Right. Ron Holland is listed at 6'8" and he also was measured at 6'6.5" without shoes.

Height's irrelevant anyway. Wingspan is much more important. You don't shoot, rebound or block shots with your head.

OK...so how can Edey be 2" taller and have a 4" greater wingspan than Donovan but yet have the same Standing Reach? Posture differences?

Now these are some good measurements for Cody William from Colorado.

Harrison Ingram even more impressive from North Carolina.

Standing reach is the most finnicky. Could be that Clingan stretched to the max and Edey gave a half effort. Could be that Edey is trying to boost his vertical which subtracts the standing reach as part of the measurement.

A few more measurement highlights.

Bronny is 6’1.5(listed at 6’4 for the last 3 years).

Length may actually hurt Flipowski? Height 6’10.75 > Wingspan 6’10.5. Never paid attention to arm length but it makes sense why teams scored in the paint against Duke.

Sears is 5’10.

Could also be Edey has broader shoulders to get a bigger wingspan, which does actually appear somewhat possible.

Standing reach is maybe more important that either tbh.

Clingan has really high shoulder blades compared to Edey. That and flexibility is the difference would be my guess

Clingan's measurables are really similar to Rudy Gobert's in terms of height/length- same standing reach, Clingan is taller, Gobert has a longer wingspan. Clingan is 45 lbs heavier than him.

The only guys bigger than Clingan in the NBA are Edey and Boban if he's still in the league. Wembanyama is taller and longer than Clingan and probably even taller and longer than Edey but he weighs 73 lbs less than Clingan.

I've always considered standing reach to be the most important measureable for big men/rim protectors.

Thrilled Charlotte dropped to 6....DC safe from them at least, Castle needs to pray picked in top 5

DC to Hawks at #1 works for me
I think it's about time that folks cut the hate Charlotte stuff
Bouknight could have gone to the Lakers, Celtics, Denver, Miami - wherever and he would have been the same immature kid as he was at UConn and Charlotte. A bad seed that will need time to repair all the crap he created either on his own or listening to bad people.
Kemba reached All Star status at Charlotte and to this day has never been overly critical on his tenure.
This current Charlotte is also much different from the Michael Jordan Charlotte Hornets.
I'm excited for whatever team any UConn player lands at - it's up to the player to be determined to excel - it's now a job, not a college adventure.
