Mullins/Reed Status?

Kentucky had Lamont Butler (ankle) and Kerr Kriisa (foot) last year. And Trent Noah and Mo Diabute with ankle injuries this year. Plus Lowe with a shoulder, and Jaxson Robinson with a wrist.
How long were they out?

Given the lack of boot and possibly being ready by Friday it's clear Moore misspoke by calling it a "high" ankle sprain

From patience pre game to this…..and I am getting Shiite for being frustrated.

How about you don't act like a punk and mess with Dave Borges for no good reason.
If I was messing with him I would be talking to him it’s a messsage board I’m entitled to my opinion. How about you stop trying to act like a punk and stop trying to cyber bully me over an opinion on a message board.

It was a snide, stupid, and unnecessary comment. There is no reason to disrespect the man that is doing his job trying to keep us informed.
Cool just do your job and report the story people will make that decision to be patient or not that’s all. There’s just a bit of frustration with not seeing Reed and Mullins on the court, think that’s a normal human reaction.

I like Dave Borges, he is a good reporter and a nice guy. Just a gut reaction having the man's back on here. He brings a lot of positive press to the program.

Freshman Braylon Mullins, who has yet to play this season due to an ankle injury, participated in pregame warm-ups on Sunday but watched the game from the bench in civilian clothes next to leading scorer/rebounder Tarris Reed Jr., also out with an ankle issue. Mullins had returned to "live" action in practice on Saturday and played 1-on-1 against assistants Andrew Hurley and Rich Kelly.

It's possible one (or both) of those players could be available on Friday at MSG. Hurley said both will likely be gametime decisions.

"He's obviously not going to play 30 minutes," the coach said of Mullins. "It'll be a gradual situation for him to work his way back. He's going to be able to come off the bench and just sort of help us, and not have to carry this big weight. I know he's dying to get out there."

Hurley added that Reed is "feeling great."

If Mullins is playing 1 on 1 in practice wouldn't you assume he'd be ready to play by Friday after a full week of practice?

What's better than great? If Reed is "feeling great" then shouldn't he be ready to play also? Or are they being extra cautious?

I don't want to question the training staff since I am not privy to any medical information, but it definitely is frustrating to me to hear this and then Reed doesn't play. I've said it before but this team is so much better when he's on the floor. I hope he's ready to go on Friday.

It was just a gut reaction on my part as well, I honestly wasn’t trying to sound snarky. When you’re told to have patience I will react a certain way as a gut reaction, I don’t care if it’s my best friend or a family member. Borges does a great job at what he does.

Setbacks happen.

If he spoke in absolutes and then a setback happened you’d all be frustrated again. Lmao

They can’t win.

Going out on a limb, they both play against the Illini.

Knowing our staff, they're back before the end of January, maybe February

Mullins' grandfather told me he was ready for BYU (met him at the hotel in Boston)

I hope Mullins tears it up. He is an Indiana kid and every reason to believe he will.
However, the kid hasn't played a minute of college hoops....lets cut him some slack until he gets on the floor.

He looked pretty comfortable vs Mich. State so I'm cutting him minimal slack. 😉 😂

At full strength I think we were going 6-0 in these games. The schedule is set up perfectly, these injuries are really frustrating.
Couldn't agree more with this. It is incredibly frustrating because this team at full strength, to me, could be just as good as the 2023-2024 team. That might be a bit of a stretch, but that's the gut feeling. The injuries are deflating.

Here's the point in the media availability last night where Hurley discusses Mullins and Reed coming back. He does sound like he's messing with everyone with the questionable/probable/doubtful thing.

If Mullins does practice all week as Hurley says is the plan seems like he is likely to play if he doesn’t have a setback.

It’s basketball…ankle sprains happen…no clue what you’re implying. That guys at UConn are more prone to ankle sprains because we’ve had 2 this season? What could UConn possibly be doing to cause them? We all saw what happened to Reed a BYU player undercut him

The players and coaches talk about how much harder our practices are than games, and that we practice harder than any other D1 team. This could contribute to it.

Well if that’s the case then I think two national championships is a fair trade-off for three ankle Sprains, but again only one of the sprains actually happened during practice

Isn’t it two? I think Mullins and Furphy were both during practice.

Nice.
Someday in the future, at full strength, we are going to be so fun to watch.
Mullins and Reid are potentially our 2 best players. Mullins looks like a star in the making already from what I saw. Taris is Taris.

But as with all D 1 teams injuries happen and next man up - no excuses.
