Didn't I hear about a key loss through injury that's affected South Carolina just recently? Staley is a darn good coach but isn't Geno the best in the game? South Carolina has a very talented team but doesn't UConn have three preseason All-American players on their roster along with more depth than they've had in years along with a couple of top ten freshmen coming in? Wasn't South Carolina out in the round of 16 this year while UConn went undefeated and beat everyone they played by a minimum of 10 points? Didn't they play more top 20 teams than did South Carolina, who had only one big signature win, Kentucky? The same Kentucky team that UConn wiped out? If I went and bought a Powerball ticket, isn't that a CHANCE I'd win tens of millions of dollars????? Never say never but come on. What is out there to suggest they would have any luck against this Huskie team, particularly at home?
Adding the number 1 forward (number 1 overall) and the number 1 post (7th overall) may suggest that South Carolina may be a better team than last year and more prepared to compete with UCONN for a national championship. Kind of like when Tennessee added Candace Parker. Add those two to a team with Welch, Mitchell, Coates and Ibiam and there is a LOT of potential to be a NC contender.
Oh yeah, also add #32 Duckett and #35 Cuevas and UCONN's loss of first round draft picks Dolson and Hartley. Replacing two starters is no easy task.
UCONN has a nice class coming in, but no game changers like SC has, IMO.
