More praise for Andre Jackson

It's clear that you choose to like [showboating] more. Your perfect right to do so.
I do, as long as it doesn’t hurt the team. I don’t begrudge people who don’t. But I understand it’s an opinion and they are no more “right” or “wrong” than I am.

seems like those who like the passion are more inclined to accept that people will disagree, but just an opinion.

Look at post #222 and possibly you missed your own at #225. This is about hoops. I am not the one bringing up silly comparisons to life in general. And it is definitely role modeling. You think the kids today don’t pick these routines up from watching games on TV?

Run it by me again how the show off stuff has improved the game since the 1960s. Trash talking has always been there. Doing dances and other self congratulatory physical routines haven’t.
You can’t be serious. You made the comment “some things from the 60s were better”. I responded, some things weren’t. That’s not a comparison. It’s making the point that it doesn’t matter if it was the 50s, 70s, or 2010s, you prefer what you prefer. When that behavior was most accepted is irrelevant.
You are free to explain why the behavior is worse or why the game is worse since you’re making the argument that it’s bad for the game.
nice straw man. I never said the game was advanced with the behavior. It’s just more fun.

You are ridiculous. You are saying I said more than I did and you are saying you didn’t counter me with what you said. The point is about basketball. If you want to start comparing the 60s generally with today and the ways in which our society has progressed or regressed, great. You are being a jerk and mau is correct to ignore you as will I.

Easy win for Albany today. Offense ran through Andre on most every possession. His shot seems to be a work in progress, he had at least one nice three and also at least one air ball. But WOW on the athleticism. Far and away the best athlete in the gym and his attempted dunk show at the end had everyone on their feet. Not sure of the box score but it may be misleading as the double team on him came often and fouls were let go. Also, at least 2 turnovers that were the fault of the receiving player simply mishandling. Bouknight version 2.0???

Edit: box score added

Can't believe this thread almost got threadjacked by someone trying to bring women's basketball in to the topic.
Love nan. I guess I was the only person who saw the irony in the posts she made in this thread around Andre’s behavior.

I couldn’t help but add more irony to the situation. Only thing that gets to Mau more than players being out of control is interjecting women players and play into a men’s thread.

The player I mentioned is extremely skilled, plays hard, backs down from no one but doesn’t showboat. After an incredible play on offense the player immediately plays defense, exactly what mau wishes Andre would do. However she’s anything but a girlie girl. Anyone on her team screwing up and she’s in their face. Tough as nails is that one.

Meanwhile Nan was exacerbated by old man mau’s position over Andre even as she maintains control over the decorum in the women’s forum because of the old men there.

I admire Nan for many reasons including ensuring the women’s forum is under control. I believe her posts in this thread demonstrate a woman with a fiery, passionate personality indicating she’s enforcing a policy that is different than her nature.

I’d wager there’s one more irony. One or more posters who admire and are arguing for the swagger of Andre would argue against a woman demonstrating it. Mau would not be one of them.

Celebrating and Taunting in basketball pales in comparative to football especially the NFL when defensive linemen celebrate always after the basic of tackles. _ That's their damn job
Would love to see a mechanic jump up and down and high five after filling someone's tire with the right amount of air!!!
Now - this thread started to be about a great young athlete who will be playing in Storrs. Let's wait and see what he does after a great play next year and see Dan Hurley's reaction to a celebration. Taunting can be a ridiculous thing
It turns into a crazy argument about Mike Tyson then civil rights between two ideologues from different generations
Then a sprinkle of women's basketball that prompts Nan (whom I respect) to pipe in.
Let's turn this one off and start a new one about a valuable recruit and what he brings to UConn
Head bang

It was mostly tongue in cheek since there were several derailings of a thread meant to discuss the merits of a double nut fist after a dunk and how it pertains to future success at UConn.

I was a huge Sixers Dan and hated Celts. Bird buried the Dr J legend. Pro wrestling doesn't draw up better storylines than that game/performance.

I’m pretty sure this was during a preseason game which makes it that much better

Loved the swagger in Taurasi well earned and she wore it well. Sounds like Paige will bring that can’t wait to see her play then. But it has nothing to do with the OP.

Love this Rod Sellers move. Chrissie certainly had it coming.

I never understood how Sellers could be suspended for the first game of the NEXT YEAR for a foul during the NCAA tournament. Never heard of it being done before or since.
