Mora’s tweet on tampering happening right now

Low-key a master class in public relations by Jim Mora.

Cap off a historic nine win season in a local bowl with a win against a brand-name opponent who you also happen to be smashing on the hardwood, then go on social media and air out a fiery tweet that everyone agrees with, but no one else is outright said. The commentators like Dick Vitale have retweet it and anyone in the comments talking trash about UConn football is immediately called the casual and mocked for not respecting our nine win season.

Dude is 60+ years old and crushing social media. I love it.

What happens to these program jumping guys when their money runs out ? I doubt if many ever graduate. Especially the ones that end up going to 3 different schools. Is academics / credit transfer even in play any more ?

and doing and saying nothing will get UConn nowhere. I root for UConn and don't care if they laugh. I want an somewhat even playing field which it is not.
Like I said, I support Coach Mora 100% and I trust he knows what he is doing. Maybe his tweet has a positive or negative effect or maybe it does nothing. Maybe I feel like we are still blackballed by the events surrounding the ACC ripping the Big East apart.

I am personally sick and tired of college football laughing at UConn for no good reason so I do care about that. It's the single biggest reason we are not in the Big 12 right now; misperceptions. We know the playing field isn't remotely close to being level given the conference payouts so attacking something which some believe to be so pervasive right now likely wouldn't make a dent in leveling the field. And if programs want to tamper, it seems like it would be very easy to tamper and get your message across to players using unofficial channels. I am all for fighting for what is right and protecting UConn but UConn is the last independent football program needing to find a conference home and it needs to be able to play ball with everyone.

I'm curious what people think about the tweet and the program it is directed at. Does the conference affiliation matter? Is the tweet fine if it is a P2 program? P4 program?

It's probably a multitude of programs but I'd be willing to bet every program around the country is the victim of at least some tampering, and Mora isn't the first to criticize.

The school may or may not pursue the offenders privately but the point of Mora's tweet was to draw attention. It was a clever way to say that the new UConn is serious and that Mora is a committed coach. The tweet went mega viral as expected in CFB circles and garnered us a lot of attention right after our Bowl win. Genius play

I read Michigan is calling on Bell. I know they had a lackluster season, but they did beat Alabama in their bowl game and it's Michigan which is hard to beat when it comes to sheer history and pedigree.
Would likely come down to what playing time looks like along with the payday. He left the B1G to come here, so he's familiar with what playing in the B1G entails. Can he get major playing time at UM along with the payday or is he going to be a good receiver in a rotation of equally good receivers. Because here, he is the standout and WR1. Also, Michigan is searching for a QB that can throw. So another uncertainty to deal with.

I seem to recall Tenn courting Joly last year. Bell will be fine but I’d still be anxious until signed and paid.

so I'm reading the first paragraph of Mora's statement and ... sounds like he wanted to leave for Wazzu? A Wazzu fan mentioned he had a Zoom interview

Don’t tag the program FB account on Twitter, tag the HC @WazzuRogers instead
the dude's like, "wow, I'm popular on twitter today!" UConn fans lighting him up.

This Jimmy Rogers seems like a nice guy. UConn beat UNC on Dec 28th and Rogers officially became the Wazzu head coach on the same day.

this is classic. The Wazzu message board praising Jim Mora for speaking up. No new posts in this thread...yet.

I feeling like the timing was perfect just after the sugar bowl ended.

According to WSU fan comments, Mora's agent was trying to get him an interview for the job but he wasn't interviewed. If so, this is kind of a bad look. I mean, it could very well just be an agent trying to make their clients the most money and giving him the most exposure and that makes total sense, but naming them comes off as sour grapes then. Also, they're pretty low on the totem pole and a fairly sympathetic team. At the same time, it's a "safe" team to name as they aren't really connected to any interest of ours.

We have no idea what Mora is upset about, but tampering with the outcome of a game is a crime. Aren't you a lawyer?
He’s a business lawyer. He has no clue. Just his best guess.

ouch.
the pessimist in me imagines it was those schools exactly, knowing we need to play nice as long as we're outside looking in. i hope we're wro in

How much you kicking in?
Yup, that’s the answer. Open up your wallet because that’s what it takes.

Bullcrap but I expert it from a WAZZU trying to protect their program and the new coach

The whole Mora wanted the WSU job and couldn’t get an interview made no sense since they were trying to drive the salary down…

-> WASHINGTON STATE WILL be paying new football coach Jimmy Rogers $1.57 million per year over the next five years, according to multiple reports. As expected, in order to come into line with Group of 5 rather than Power 5 market rates, that's a steep decline from the $2.56 million Jake Dickert made this year.

But that number, $1.57 million, is also way down from what coaches are making at the top of the reconstituted Pac-12. You might think -- for appearances sake as a recent power conference member -- WSU would want to match the $2 million salary Oregon State is paying Trent Bray. <-
