Marquette has pleasantly surprised me. I knew that Lott and Van Kleunen were decent players, but I'm impressed with the freshman Jordan King and the senior off the bench, Altia Anderson, who barely played at all last year.

Still, it's pretty clear Mississippi State will wear them down with their depth, height and speed. Van Kleunen is a warrior but still not a good matchup for Carter, and ultimately Marquette is just outmanned.

AEH is a fine player. I'm sure she will be a starter for MSU before too many more games are played.

Half 35-34 MSST, Marquette hitting 3 pointers. MSST not rebounding well.
MSU is getting out toughed on 50/50 rebounds and seem a step slower on interior defense. Our only consistent effort rebounder is C Bibby. J Carter is getting them off athleticism and height. The only real positive right now for MSU is they are getting good looks inside. The shots just aren’t falling. That and Marquette looked like the press was getting to them toward the end of the second quarter.

Marquette being chosen 9th in the Big East preseason poll is a little cray-cray. They’re obviously off on that one..

Kieger did a really nice job with that program. Clearly recruited and left some capable players on that team. Interested in what she does with Penn State.

At this point she should be coming off the bench. The light may eventually click but its not there yet. She seemed much more comfortable the other night coming off the bench.

MSU's PG play has been rough tonight as has their rebounding.

Jackson does not have any confidence in her outside shot. She needs to take it inside to get points, I think that would help her confidence.

State is really struggling to make baskets. Especially close in.

This could easily go to the wire if Marquette doesn't tire down the stretch.

If state ever starts hitting the bunnies they are up by 10. Way to many misses right at basket.

Marquette still shooting lights out from 3, seems like that is every year regardless of coach. King looks really good for them as a freshman. Lott looked good first half.

Not sure what to make of the preseason stuff. Cal was chosen 10th out of 12 teams in the Pac 12 and just beat #20 Arkansas.

#20 Arkansas.

AEH is 5-14 with no rebounds, assists, or steals.

I'm not exactly sure she is developing as planned.

Boneheaded play by J Danberry. Hold for the last shot of the quarter. That was a five point swing.

54-52 MSU end of third.

If Marquette could handle the press a little better they’d be leading.

Thankfully Marquette has 20+ turnovers, they are scoring pretty much at will every other time they get the ball down the court. Shooting over 50% for the game.

Carter is getting handled on the offensive end inside. She can't finish.

Is Matharu in the doghouse? Surprised to see Mingo Young in there instead

Rickea Jackson: **wide open with the ball**

Jessika Carter: **double-teamed**

Rickea Jackson: passes to Carter

Jesus Rickea. You are wide open with a clean 6 foot jumper from the basket. Instead passes to a double teamed carter.

Miss St does not look like a top 10 team much less a top 20 team right now.

You mean to tell me Mississippi State's 49-point average MOV against scrubs might have been inflated?

.-.
Only 1 senior on states team. 2 juniors. Rest soph and freshmen. Lot of inconsistencies.

I am going to have make significant adjustments to my top 25

I was just looking at this. Keep in mind that Marquette's only loss is to an unbeaten Northwestern. If Marquette holds on, questions abound!

They're still going to win though. These underdogs rarely make the plays needed to win late against better squads.

Why has Matharu been on the bench the entire night?

She had a bad 3 minute segment, no worse than practically everyone else for MSU.
