Miller to Texas

Maybe Miller will work out at Texas, but the SEC is a very tough conference right now with good coaches. He had some success at Arizona which was the top program in the West with lots of advantages and went 29-27 in the Pac 12 his last three years.

Texas is a sleeping giant, unlimited money and local talent. Huge brand power. Miller should kill it there.

Money is no substitute for competence and patience. Two things they run short on quite often in Austin.

The C7 or whatever you want to call it now isn't going to do well in the NIL era. Even billionaires have their limits. X will find a good replacement, but they will need the money to compete.

Did he kill it at Arizona? Nearly got arrested as I remember. I wish him luck though.
5 Pac12 regular season titles and 3 tournament titles, multiple #1 seeds but couldn't make it past the Elite 8 hump and then the downfall, I'd say he did pretty well

three winning seasons, including two championships. The sand is pretty good.
This is about the future Tom, not the past

Pretty obvious what is going on. Did you not notice the SEC getting 13 teams in the tourney???

When are you going to do the board a favor and follow one of those 13 teams instead of complaining on this board about things that are completely outside of UConn's control?

You realize that the NCAA tournament is likely expanding to 76 teams next year. Even if the SEC got all 16 teams in a 76-team field, there would still be 6 additional slots.

And at least half of them will be gone after the first weekend.

He got good players(cough) but never got over the hump at Arizona.
He left Arizona under a dark cloud.
  • five Level I violations from incidents that allegedly took place during his tenure
  • self-imposed school postseason ban in 2021
  • two former assistants with lengthy show-cause penalties

This was what the "cough" in parenthesis meant.

This is awful for the big east. Millers a great coach. Most of the BE coaches are upstarts (Holloway, English) or are trying to reboot their careers (Shaka, Putin, miller). A few are guys who are comfortable or loyal enough that they’ve stayed (like Mac). Then there’s Hurley. Put him in the last category or a different one but the point is that the BE is at a huge disadvantage when it comes to hiring coaches. Losing miller sucks.

Big East has arguably the best collection of coaches and Putin isn't one of them.

Yeah not bad but not killing it. All those number one seeds and no hardware. Not even final fours. He’s a good coach but blatantly cheated and got a pass. I know he’s not the only one.

Good move for Miller. Tough loss for Xavier and the Big East as a whole. Very good coach. Let's see what he can do with the NIL bump.
Wow this didn’t take long. Miler beat the players in transferring before the opening date of tomorrow.

I am finally convinced we need to listen to Coach K and Danny and blend the Big East viable programs with the ACC. We need to stick together or become extinct.
The Big East/ACC merger makes so much sense, beyond basketball. If leagues are trending toward 20ish teams, that's the best path forward for both leagues.

Yeah, and all 5 of our Big East teams didn’t make it past the 1st weekend.
