Mike Nardi is officially an assistant coach

He’s not retiring - he’s the literal general manager now.

It really is a position that did not previously exist that now needs to with the introduction of portals, NIL, revenue sharing, etc., etc.

I do not think it is any small undertaking either - I suspect that job is intensive and just does not leave much room for whistles and clipboards.
I think you missed the thread here. I wasn't calling Moore's move a joke or a cushy job. I was responding to PNolan taking Rich Z's comment "Or if Tom Moore decides to retire. He'll be 60 next month" at face value. I took it to be a quip because we are both older than 60.

Impressive endorsement by Coach Wright to place a call to Danny on Nardi's behalf. Respect from a HOFer for our Program and culture. Both Coach Nardi and Coach Moore will be excellent in their new positions. Lucky to have them as part of the staff.

BTW. Irrespective of his chronological age. Tom Moore is a "young "60. Plenty of gas left in the tank.

"I really think we have a team contending for a national championship," Nardi said. "The roster we have, the freshmen coming in ... I'm really excited to get to work with these guys. I've been here one day, and you can tell everybody's connected, everybody has the same goal in mind."

Why taking UConn men's basketball assistant coach job was a 'no-brainer' for Mike Nardi

Interesting that they news dumped yesterday. I can’t remember the last time they did it. Typically they spread out these major announcements.

I will agree that you are now too old to be on our coaching staff.

I am sorry.

Good back up option, Enoch Boakye Villanova. If he hasn’t committed could this hire help bring on this as a solid back up? Of course if they can’t grab a Baba Miller.

60 is the new 30.

True. I'd crush being a GM, though. Maybe not here, I'm thinking like St. Bonaventure.

I remember him from some of our battles with Nova in the mid-00s when I was in college. You're telling me that was 20 years ago and this dude is now 40?! S___ I feel old.

(Good hire though.)
You feel old? Wes B. was my classmate and I saw Toby and Dom in person. I turn 80 tomorrow, still able to break 100. But good hire. Go Huskies

Long article from Mike Anthony.

“What amazes me is that when you get through the transfer portal and NIL and get to the season, the incredible job that coaches are doing putting these teams together with one- and two-year guys,” Wright said. “The quality on the court is outstanding. It has not affected the level of play. [Nardi] is actually going to be part of the generation that, as an assistant, he knew and learned under the old rules and then was still an assistant coach as part of the transition to this new era. He really understands it. I think it is going to be really healthy for him. Having been a professional player made it easier to transition into this new world. He was a successful player who understands the players’ perspective and has always been supportive of players being rewarded.”

Jay Wright saw greatness in Mike Nardi as player, coach at Villanova. What he brings to UConn.

Happy early birthday my friend!
