OT: Michigan is good

Michigan is looking like the 2007 Pats well hopefully it all ends in an L as well preferably to the good guys obviously. Got a long ways to go, if Michigan is still undefeated after the nfl season so toward mid February will have their celebrity fans at their games bandwagon jumping like Jeter, Brady Portnoy, of course the fab 5. The pressure of going undefeated will mount hopefully there’s a formula.
They're really good but they haven't exactly played the greatest teams. The dismantling of Gonzaga was really impressive but Gonzaga should've lost to Seattle tonight. Nova beatdown was good because they should be a tournament team but Nova doesn't have the horses yet and the game was at Michigan. They beatdown Auburn but so did Purdue and Arizona. Wake Forest simply choked against Michigan and TCU only lost by 4. Exhibitions should be taken with a grain of salt but Cincinnati beat Michigan and St. John's lost to them by two points. There probably won't be any challenges to them coming up for this month, Michigan State and Nebraska are pretty blah despite their records/rankings.

Yet I never started a post about them.........
That’s a great idea actually. Please start a thread dedicated to how great Michigan is and fill it with all the posts you want, that way no one else ever has to read them if they don’t want to. Or just use this thread and stop polluting all the others.

Get ready to be exiled to recognizing another team may be really good jail, while the mafia comes here telling you all the "why's" we'll beat them confidently.
If a mosquito comes near ones ear, one hears it buzzing, one goes on alert. If it flies away without invading ones body and doesn’t come back one relaxes. On the other hand if it continues to buzz and/or others join in one gets angry and takes action. Now if butterflies invaded one’s space the reactions would be different.

We are a species that reacts similarly to abstractions of verbal and written irritants.

Other than the slow start to the year while they were putting all the new pieces together this team is obliterating everybody the way the 91 UNLV and Duke 99 teams often did. At Maryland was a closer game while Maryland was shooting lights out just to keep it close.

An upperclassmen filled team with a great coach. They will face plenty of competition late January and beyond. We certainly will see the big picture before tournament time, but this team is doing things that we haven't seen in decades.

Watching Georgia and Auburn now. These teams dont look great. I feel there are a lot of these types in the P4s.
I thought that transfer and NIL would create more parity up top. But this is a very large middle class.

Agreed

Michigan and Arizona are in the clear first tier right now. Just behind them are some teams who either look like they’re at their ceiling (Duke/ISU/Purdue), haven’t played to their potential yet or had injuries (UConn).

The teams are ranked where they should be right now but UConn and Michigan are a cut above the rest.

Feels like a huge gap this season between the top 5 or so teams and teams in the 20+ range.
No doubt - I think there are a clear top 2-3, then a right there next 2-3, then another 5 teams that can make a run if all clicks. Then a thud. I’d be surprised if there were any surprises in the final 4.

Don't sleep on Duke either. I'd say very likely the champion with be Arizona, Michigan, Duke or us. Quite a drop off after that. Purdue is a fraud.

Duke is very good I agree. But yet another call to help them beat an FSU team last night that isn’t too good at all. Up 85-82 with 18 seconds or so and the shot clock running out Boozer went to the hole got doubled up and forced a 5 footer in traffic and was bailed out by a phantom foul. Not that FSU would’ve made a 3 but they did their job and of course the stripes found a way to help the Dukies once again.

I don’t believe in this Duke squad against the other top teams this year. Us, Michigan, and Arizona all have strong front courts to make things difficult for Boozer and IMO Duke’s supporting cast is just weaker and can be attacked. The defense has also looked pretty disappointing these past two wins.

They lack guard play. They're not a threat to win it. One of the top 5 teams will win it this year. UM, Uconn, AZ, Purdue, ISU.

duke just beat two of the worst teams in P5, both outside the top 100KP....by a combined 10 points.

They're not atrocious, but not a threat ATM. Peoplle have figured out how to attack them and guard the one-headed monster.

How’d that work out for ‘91 UNLV and ‘99 Duke?

In single elimination, anything is possible. I will take Uconn's A game on offense/defense/depth against anyone, including Michigan.

They have nothing on the perimeter other than a streaky spot up shooter in Evans. Little Boozer isn't ready, Foster is meh. You let anyone but big Boozer beat you given they've become so dependent on him.

Revisionist - sure, UM could go undefeated the whole way, or they may trip up, someone may figure out how to play them (slow game down).

We would likely be their nightmare match up.

Indeed, that’s almost the definition of a surprise
True - up through last year. My guess - 3 of the 5 teams comes out of those top 5, 1 comes out of the next 5 (BYU, Zags, Houston, Duke, MSU).

I'm going to go with a UConn, UM, ISU, BYU F4.

Do I go with

A: Words, what do they mean

B: Simpsons “That’s the joke” gif

C. Truly, you have a dizzying intellect

Let’s say C this time

This is spot on. FSU did a good job denying boozer the ball in his favorite positions, but simply wasn't big enough to prevent throwing over the defense, which duke did i think 5-6 times last night. A slightly taller more polished team beats duke going away last night. Their defense has fallen off a cliff.
