I don't mind the money conversation. But when people just start questioning a kids character with no evidence to back it up that's when it becomes a sensitive topic. If people just keep the conversation about money there would be no arguments.
This has not actually been proven yet.I think the frustration lies in some knowing that being here with this staff is the best path to getting the biggest bag long term.
It will change but Hurley and the staff have already had several players greatly outperform their recruiting ranking and be drafted higher than “experts” would have foreseen coming out of high school. The guaranteed money Castle and Clingan just earned dwarfed the extra $500K or even $1 million NIL bags (or differentials) some kids base their decisions on. Would Clingan have gone 7th overall if he had gone to Michigan? HELL no. Even if they dropped a huge bag on him it would have cost him a fortune. This has not actually been proven yet.
Technically no Hurley player ever has gotten a second contract. But that’ll probably change very soon.
Lakers now don’t just have 1 Lebron James, They have 2 Lebron James.
Starting for the lakers g league team maybeDoes Brony start? It’s Reddick’s problem.
The 55th pick in last year's draft was Isaiah Wong. He played 4 minutes in 1 game last year (scored 2 points!).Starting for the lakers g league team maybe
They thought the right choice but it ended up being Wong. The 55th pick in last year's draft was Isaiah Wong. He played 4 minutes in 1 game last year (scored 2 points!).
ThanasisI keep hearing this argument but who else has this situation applied to? And I’m talking sporting wise, not front office. The guys on the court/field should be there by merit not nepotism.
Michael Jordan didn’t have family in the league when he played, but he also had zero personnel say or coaching say. Jerry Krause tan those teams. Krause fired Doug Collins and hired Phil Jackson. MJ’s scoring output went down but he started winning championships. Krause drafted Kukoc and raved about him before he ever donned a Bulls jersey, drawing both Jordan’s and Pippen’s ire.I keep hearing this argument but who else has this situation applied to? And I’m talking sporting wise, not front office. The guys on the court/field should be there by merit not nepotism.
Not saying it’s a good thing but front office is far different. You can’t score points in the office.why should the front offices be kept separate? why is it ok for billion dollar franchises to have nepotism all through their front offices but its an uproar it it trickles down to the roster?
Thansis was drafted by the Knicks a year after Giannis. Not sure how that’s the same thing.Thanasis
You might not sink a jumper from the front office, but you can definitely sink a franchise. Not saying it’s a good thing but front office is far different. You can’t score points in the office.
He’s being stashed on the Bucks bench to appease Giannis. That’s incredibly similar to the situation you’re painting.Thansis was drafted by the Knicks a year after Giannis. Not sure how that’s the same thing.
Thanasis situation is bad too you’re right. But at least he was drafted on his own merits. Lebrons agent threatened the other GMs. And people like Stephen A have the audacity to say he’s “earned” that right. All so lame. He’s being stashed on the Bucks bench to appease Giannis. That’s incredibly similar to the situation you’re painting.
Or just shut it down.Maybe we should just rename this thread??![]()
The Knicks signed and kept Chris Smith on the roster for a full season to keep JR Smith happy. LiAngelo Ball also would have been nowhere near the NBA if it weren't for LaMelo and LonzoI keep hearing this argument but who else has this situation applied to? i think i'm done listening to givony. on the most recent Zach Lowe podcast he was GUSHING about Edey and Filipowski and i just can't abide.Givony had him as the 55th best prospect.
Vecenie had him as the 72nd best prospect.
NBA.com had him one spot behind Newton.
You know better than these guys?
Wait, the 100% is from analyst and publishers. The 70% is from fans, which is meaningless. This is equivalent to a crystal ball. Andrew Barth is the analyst and it looks like he flipped from Pitt to UConn a few days ago.For what it’s worth I just went on Rivals and clicked on Meleek Thomas. They have what they call “futurecast” for recruiting. Futurecast says 100% for the good guys. But it also says 70% for Pitt.
That's a bold statement.Meleek Thomas
