May non-UConn recruiting

Was going to post the same thing. She had been listed in the top 25/30 or many previous rankings, but she seemed to drop over the past year. I don’t think she played much, if any, AAU last summer, and that may have contributed in an “out of sight, out of mind” kind of way. She is a really nice kid and a talented player. Hope she does well at Vandy.

I don't think she will do well at Vandy since she is going to Cal.

No, that's just the title of the link. The player referred to in the title is No. 44 ranked Amaya Bonner, who is committed to Cal. The player discussed in this thread is No. 47 Amauri Williams, who is committed to Vanderbilt.

Appears Sam Williams brought Louisville offer strategy to TN, offer early offer all. Let’s see if this method works for TN.

I think we should include this thread for reference. Will give Premier Basketball credit for at least putting out a disclaimer for us in advance. :D

I wish the added Canadian players. I would like to see what they thought about Lemyah Hylton.

Don't get me started LOL. I'd love it if they paid some more attention but it's tricky because Canadian teams don't have the same ability to attend some of these premiere exposure events or the EYBL until recently. The cost to travel to some of these events aren't cheap depending on where you're coming from in Canada. I couldn't even fathom how much it would cost to travel from BC to Virginia for Boo Williams.

In the past, players seemed to get noticed if they played for the national team at FIBA events (Hailey Brown, Kia Nurse, Amihere, Edwards, etc.) but it wasn't guaranteed. With the emergence of prep programs, it's getting better but it will still take time and $$$$. Players like Lattimore and Day-Wilson (Syracuse commits) were fortunate to be at a school where they were able to cover the costs for their travels. No other OSBA program could afford the travel costs to play the schedule they had between 2018 - 2020.

Regarding Hylton, I like her more than Todd out of the 2022 group. She's worked hard and has improved immensely since Grade 9. Unfortunately, she lost out on great chances for exposure last summer and this past school year due to COVID and the lock down orders in Ontario. I thought she had great chance at being listed as an all-star in the OSBA league this season. If she commits to Maryland, I think you'll be very happy.

I would be happy if Hylton signed with Maryland more than any other player with the possible exception of Chance Gray. I think Hylton is going to be a star and a WNBA player.

I think she has great potential. She seems to have the desire to push herself from what I've been able to observe.

It's going to be interesting when The 2022 class graduate from their respective NCAA schools and enter the draft. Seeing what's coming down the pipeline with respect to talent..................man. Expansion can't come fast enough, but I fear it won't be enough to keep pace.

Just watching the rookies who made the WNBA this year and their impact already. Imagine what it would be like if most of them had been able to stick with their respective teams?

The 2020 class had a great freshmen season with Paige Bueckers and Caitlyn Clark plus the others. The 2021 class could be good but I don't think it will be as good as the 2020 class. The 2022 class could be a monster. There are some players in the 30s and 40s range that are going to be really good players.

I saw in the class rankings last year that they do rate some international players. For example, when they wrote up Arizona’s class, they said Anna Gret Asi was a 4.5* (half-star is weird, but whatever). They just don't rank those players alongside US players.

They're hit and miss if you ask me. The previous organization who provided the rankings were similar in the coverage.

Granted it's not easy to keep up on the number of players however with FIBA having a YouTube channel, I thought it would be easier. All of the U16 - U19 European competitions are available and you can watch at your convenience if the time difference doesn't work. What may also make it harder to rank players is that some will go into the pros if they can where they are. They may never have interest in playing NCAA ball.

I can understand the challenges with watching Canadian kids because games aren't streamed online as much. Only one prep league does for the women's game and it's based in Ontario (that I know of). Canadian Nationals are streamed on YouTube but not much media attention is given to it. We're still behind in some ways unfortunately.

We also have to remember a lot of these ranking companies are businesses who host tournaments and various exposure events. Their primary focus will be the athletes who attend their events.

The shilling for the tournaments and training sessions is nauseating. There are some organizations that I won't even mention on Twitter lest I get a copy/paste reply from the owner that includes links to all of his hustles.

We're seeing it trend that way here in Canada too. One AAU program up here has set up an academy that runs all year offering players the opportunity to play for them in the summer. Recently a new "recruiting service" has come onto the scene offering to help families get their kids more exposure in the US with NCAA programs.

The costs to even play competitive basketball are nearing what families pay for hockey or high-level soccer. Never thought I'd see it get to there. Basketball was a sport that I could actually afford when my daughter was looking for something to participate in. Don't know if I would be able to nowadays, especially when looking at what prep schools can charge if she wanted to play at that level.

Crazy that official visits are starting, but the first visits I've seen reported are to Oregon during the first weekend, as they'll host Endyia Rogers, Jennah Isai, Kennedy Basham, Chance Gray, and Grace Vanslooten.

Also Sammie Wagner and Chloe Briggs as 2023 unofficial visitors.

Watching her film, she reminds BeaverNation of Sydney Weise. And whatever rating service has Lily Hansford as a 3-star, should find another profession. Great recruit for OSU!!!!!
I definitely see it. Size and shooting stroke are eerily similar. Wiese worked out okay in Corvallis, I think I'll give Rueck the benefit of the doubt on this one, regardless of what recruitniks think.

Hate to be that guy but who is she.
Ranked No. 204 by ASGR, No. 109 by BlueStar, and No. 14 in Texas by Premier Basketball.

So definitely an “under-the-radar” player for Mulkey’s first prep recruit at LSU.

Also, per Roaul, was previously committed to TCU.

I don't recall Kim recruiting her when she was at Baylor, I know she was recruiting Vanslooten, Bransford, Latson, Sa' Smith, etc.

Saw it on Twitter and asked the same thing lol this has Fargas all over it.
I think the reality is while Kim will bring in some big recruits, its going to take some "under the radar" hard nosed recruits as well to help build the winning before we can expect top recruits to want to flock here.

I have a feeling 70-80% of the roster by next year will be gone. I think the roster clearing with Lombard/Davis is already part of that process already.

Interesting enough, she was offered by Fargas.
