What are you talking about? You seem to be the illogical one. I am going to take his word about the brand over yours. I doubt a man with options would have taken this job if that wasnt something he believed.Good god he said that the day he was announced as head coach! That wasn't spoken from experience walking into a gym in a UConn polo. Why does it seem so many of you here lack a grasp of basic logic?
How about a front line of Akok and Cockburn? You want Akok with girth?
I think he’s gone too. But we have Sid Wilson and Polley.was chill's guy. understandable. he likes to recruit in that area and is successful. goodluck matthews, dont think he will recommit.
what i meant was that since chills was gone then he was gone. i guess thats my bad but yeah true, i love sidney wilson, he's from my area. hes gonna be a star hereI think he’s gone too. But we have Sid Wilson and Polley.
In the end, it doesn't even matter. Dan Hurley was brought in to drain the swamp. That is a process. Hurley has a plan in place and a vision of the type of recruit he can bring in. Lets all collectively catch our breath and trust that he can execute. It was a home run hire and the perfect man for the job. There is no reason to think that he can't bring UConn back to an elite level. This roster, the recruiting class inlcuded, is far from elite. Hurley knows that and in an ideal world he probably would only want to keep Wilson, Adams, AG, and Carlton.
I know this is probably just the irrational, emotional part of my brain talking here, but I kinduv think that the hiring of Dan Hurley brought us back to an elite level. There is no reason to think that he can't bring UConn back to an elite level.

Dumb.Wish it were Polley and Whaley transferring out.
It means people here will argue that Hurley told him he is better off somewhere else, or that he’s not good enough to play here anyway, or that he would have been our second best player next year, or that he’s scared to compete for playing time. What does it mean "I am not closing the door on UConn.."
Suspend this guy for 2 weeks.Said every single program who hired a successful mid-major Coach to turn around there upper level program. It’s included with the “fire up the fanbase speech” package...
Perma ban this guy.Wish it were Polley and Whaley transferring out.

Why is everybody so ornery right now? Jeez.It means people here will argue that Hurley told him he is better off somewhere else, or that he’s not good enough to play here anyway, or that he would have been our second best player next year, or that he’s scared to compete for playing time. Take your pick.
(and with Delaire as our #1 2019 target, this is exactly what happened)Maybe Dan Hurley took a look at Polley and thought, "Hmm, a 6-8 small forward who shot 42% from 3-pt range last year. And then there's Sid. And I need guards. Better give Matthews fair warning."
Please tell me you are being sarcastic? Have you watched his tape? Half of his highlights are him grabbing uncontested rebounds below the rim!
Guess you are. But thanks for your input. My impression was that it was largely the lack of offensive coaching for that. It didn't seem that anyone beyond Adams, Larrier and Vital were given the freedom to create. And for being a spot up shooter, hard when those three mostly sought their own shot.
Hurley would probably play him at the 4. I know a lot of wings HATE the thought of playing the 4 because in the league they would play the 2 or 3.I prefer the simple, straightforward narrative: the people that recruited Matthews are now gone - Chill only recently - and Matthews wants assurances that this new coach and his system will suit him. We do not know if Hurley has tried to assure him ... we do know that both parties agree that resetting the process is necessary.

Many folks here always believe grass is always greener. No one is as good as that next recruit. Those highlight videos where a kid dominates future rec league ballers gets em all the time.
